@@Luke - I think, that this  issue is solved with 1.4.0 ... I used video from post 1 of this thread and now it plays OK even if I enabled VA API in server I even changed quality to 144p to be sure, that some transcoding kicked in

Emby for iOS 1.5.1 has been released to resolve iPhone x playback issues. Thanks.
