xbox one only plays for about 1 minute, issue with transcoding

Not too long ago I asked for help and knew that part of the issue was resolved, but I had to wait on the rest for my new ISP.

I now have the new ISP setup, which is 1Gbps down, 250Mbps up.  Comcast had taken to throttling my up from what it was supposed to be ~20Mbps to 2 to 3Mbps.  I've tracked this by using Neubot.

The problem(s) I am having are:

On the same local network, if I try to watch a movie on my Xbox One, it will either work, or it will play for a certain amount of time and then the xbox just goes back to the home screen, not the emby home screen, the xbox home screen.  It only happens on certain movies.  All which in the past have worked flawlessly.  The amount of time from starting the movie until it pops out to home seems exact.  I have not timed it but I would guess a minute or two (might be longer).  I looked on the forums and found the suggestion to turn the max bitrate up so that it won't try and transcode the file but it still happens.

Next, if I am at work which is on a high bandwidth University network, I'm having fast skips in the same movies that would pop out to home, so while the movie starts there are little jumps in the image and audio. Like dropped frames almost.

I tested another movie that I know would play on the xbox from work and it started out great, but after about 5 minutes I started to get little blips of skip or drop.  It is so quick, and almost like a beat, repetitive.

I have not changed Emby except for upping the max bitrate.

I'm at work atm, but I can post logs.  The problem is I don't know which logs have the errors and which do not.  I could do that kind of testing but I thought your eyes would probably see problems right away.  I'm just going to zip up from the last three days.  If you need me to do a more here's this here's that logging just let me know and I can do it tonight.

I apologize.  I do not intend to be disrespectful of anyone's time.  I just don't know which logs have what you need but I know there should be examples in there.  Again, if you would rather me to give correlations of events with logs I can redo this stuff when I get home.  I zipped the file because there are a number of files included.

Please see additional information added in post below...

Thank you,

tobias

Update.  I noticed in Transcoding that my path to ffmpeg was set to custom, and it was using a version apparently 20160410.  So I download the latest version and update the path to the newest ffmpeg.exe (20170503).  I just tried on of the movies that is always problematic, and I'm at work streaming it through the browser and so far it seems like it is ok.  Normally by now I should have seen all kinds of blips in it.

When I get home I will test with my xbox - although technically it should not be transcoding so ffmpeg would not be involved, correct?

I will try other movies here and see how they go.

I just selected another movie and checked what it was playing back at and its says Auto - Direct.  Have I configured something wrong that it would be doing direct playback over the net?  It seems to be playing ok but if someone else were to watch the same movie on much lower bandwidth net connection, on a Roku or something, I take it, it would automatically adjust to a much lower bitrate?

I got home, tried the same movie that was now working at work on the xbox one.  It still does the same thing, plays for about a minute and then exits to the xbox home menu.

Since this is the most recent thing I have done I will post my most recent logs.

BTW - this should be somewhere in the logs between 17:20.  Harry Potter Prisoner of Azkaban.

I noticed, but I am not for sure, that the movies having issues were mpg.  I tried re-encoding one to mkv and now it is playing fine on the xbox one.

Excellent.  Let me know if you want me to run tests and submit the logs.  Happy to help.  tobias.

Haha.  Hi Chef.  I still see your posts on here.  Glad to see you are doing well.

Luke, I thought I would mention to you that I am still experiencing the same issue.  Certain movies play for a short while and then the screen goes black for a short period and then I am back at the Xbox One home screen.  I was at a family members house where we had setup his xbox one to use my Emby server.  We went to watch a movie and it did it there too.  Then we tried a different movie and it worked.  That is the same thing I have experienced at home.  Or do experience.  I've only seen this with the xbox one.  I know other family members are using Roku's and they have not reported the same issue.

I just thought I would mention it.

Thank you very much Luke.  It is impressive how hard you all work.  Emby is awesome and the support is fantastic.  Thank you.
