shared folder-help!

hello i am using emby-server on the first machine where i have all media (o.s. debian) and i am using a second machine with kodi as a client. How do i have to configure shared folder?

media local path is /mnt/disk1/movie is it enough insert as shared folder this: //192.168.0.7/mnt/disk1/movie???do i have to change some folder permissions??do i have to use samba???i am really confused!!!:)thank you

hi luke!no i haven't any problem with playback but i ve read that using shared folder the client can get access directly to the media without transcoding...so i would like to use this system!

Share your folders (preferably via NFS since you're on Linux), point Emby server to the share, install the Emby for Kodi addon on your Kodi client, point it to your Emby server, let it scan.  Voila.

@@gabasr581, when you created your Emby libraries, did you fill out the optional network path for each library folder? if not, you can go back and do that by clicking on each folder and then entering the path.

Yes i did it.

local path is:

/mnt/disk/movie

 

"shared folder path" is: //192.168.0.7/mnt/disk/movie

hi guys,i wasn't able to get a good result! i shared folder by nfs; i can see the folder on my pc client (so i suppose that shared folder is working) but there is no way to get a direct access from kodi addon "emby for kodi". if i choose inside addon setting "native access" i get an error message because addon can't find any folder at net path //192.168.0.7/diskname/foldername...any suggestion?

From that point on, it is up to you to make sure the other machines can access:

i have no problem to see both folders on pc client (192.168.0.3). i'm not using kodi or emby on this machine. I have simply mounted the two folders on a local path and i can get access without any issue. on the other hand,When i try to sync emby from kodi on my HTPC (192.168.0.9) there is no way to get a direct access!

On pc client i have installed nfs-common, then i've created these two folders: /mnt/nfs/film and /mnt/nfs/film2.

I use this command for mounting the shared folders:

 

sudo mount 192.168.0.7:/mnt/771e1f9b-c44c-4093-a89e-5805c0992110/Film /mnt/nfs/film

sudo mount 192.168.0.7:/mnt/7f4b2b5b-d0f2-4714-96fa-25e84bb78e32/Film2 /mnt/nfs/film2

 

I can see the folders and the file inside by manage folder (idon't use emby or kodi on pc client)

@@Angelblue05, he was an issue in his log with emby for kodi reporting the path is not found. can you confirm that in the log above and if so, what is generally the next step?

 

he's using the optional network path feature, and when he tries to play from the add-on, he gets an error message. thanks !

When he switched the path mode, did he reset his database?

 

Make sure the playback mode is set to addon under the addon's settings. Press Ok. Then, reset the database by launching the addon and scroll to the bottom, reset local database.

 

That should resolves it.

Hi guys, i reset local DB. Do i have to change playback option from "native" to "addon"? Is not "native" the  correct option for direct streaming (without transcoding)?
