JulesC 51 Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 (edited) I'm trying to install Emby Server on my Windows Home Server (WHS) 2011, but I keep encountering an error that prevents me from installing Emby. Error Details: see attached screenshot. Note: I've also attached the log file the screenshot's referring to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. install.log Edited February 2, 2017 by JulesC
pünktchen 1409 Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 I guess it's .Net Framework 4.6. Just download and install it the manual way.
Happy2Play 9782 Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Did you "Disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security" https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/10553-cannot-install-server-or-mbtemc/ 1
JulesC 51 Posted February 2, 2017 Author Posted February 2, 2017 pünktchen, thanks for your quick response. This is my "guess" from a brief scan of the log, but wasn't 100%. If I install .Net Framework 4.6 manually, will this help me bypass the error I'm encountering. I guess what I'm asking is that will the Emby Server installation recognize that it's already installed and proceed with the installation? Thank you for your help.
pünktchen 1409 Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Yes if it's installed already, Emby's setup should recognize it.
Happy2Play 9782 Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 The log basically says a failed download. (2/2/2017 3:28:09 PM) Downloading 'DotNetFX462\NDP462-KB3151802-Web.exe' from 'http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=780596&clcid=0x409' to 'C:\Users\ADMINI~1\AppData\Local\Temp\1\VSD75A2.tmp\' Download completed at 2/2/2017 3:28:10 PM Downloading failed with HRESULT=-2146697208

Having just done this myself you'll need :- http:\\*.embydata.com https:\\*.emby.media https:\\*.github.com https:\\github-cloud.s3.amazonaws.com .. this was for a Stand Alone install so there may be others... 1

Rbtech, thank you for your suggestions. Very helpful. I haven't done this yet, but I thought when you add sites as "Trusted Sites" they had to start with "https:\\" or it would be rejected. Am I thinking of this correctly? To others in the forum, If you have Emby installed on Windows Home Server or some other Windows Server, do you know if there are other Emby domains that I should include as "Trusted Sites"? Thank you.

Thank you. Just untick the 'require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone' in the Trusted Sites dialog box and you can then add http sites without issues. Only add sites you genuinely trust Edited February 21, 2017 by rbjtech 1
