SwanStream 64 Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 So I got a amazon firetv, seemed cheap and and maybe a good way to ease into 4k.... tried with Kodi and so far no luck getting it to squeeze out 2160P. Wondering if using Emby as the client would work better or if maybe my hardware choice should really be reconsidered?... from an emby perspective that is. Anyone have comments/suggestions?
ebr 16169 Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 If you want/need the Amazon services then the Fire is the answer. If not, the Shield is definitely the best piece of hardware for Android TV.
Luke 42077 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Hi @. I agree on the Shield as well. The latest beta version of the Emby app offers all the HD Audio pass-through you need. Check out the beta thread for more details: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/42239-android-tv-beta-13x/ We think you'll enjoy the next update to the stable channel. Thanks !
SwanStream 64 Posted December 7, 2016 Author Posted December 7, 2016 Well I picked up one of each. My thinking is to put the Shield @ the big screen with the HDaudio, wizz-bangs, etc, and replace a htpc that plays everywhere else in the castle with the FireTV for 2ch/1080p playback elsewhere. Now if only Emby's dev team (or Kodi's) cracked the sync playback on multiple devices nut I'd be living in bliss!! Thanks for the feedback! Now I'm wondering if I can use Emby as the back-end on the shield to serve up to kodi clients on the shield and the FireTV.... hmmmm
