gdselzer 0 Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 emby-server 3.0.8500 running on a Raspberry Pi 3 I am able to get the server started and it runs fine for a few hours, but it consistently crashes after a few hours. I am unable to see anything in the logs (attached) that looks like a likely error. Any guidance on hunting this down? Thanks server.txt
Luke 42077 Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 Hi, I don't see anything obvious here that would cause a crash. Is this a new installation that you don't mind playing with? If so I can have you try the beta server which may resolve this. Thanks.
gdselzer 0 Posted November 26, 2016 Author Posted November 26, 2016 It's a new installation. I'm open to trying the beta if we think it will get it working.
gdselzer 0 Posted November 26, 2016 Author Posted November 26, 2016 I used the method outlined here: https://akosresch.wordpress.com/2016/05/11/installing-emby-server-on-raspberry-pi-3/
Luke 42077 Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 Ok so these instructions are using our debian repo, so you could just substitute our beta repo in there Go here: https://emby.media/linux-server.html Click Debian, then you'll see the link to the beta repository.
Brian M 0 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Ok so these instructions are using our debian repo, so you could just substitute our beta repo in there Go here: https://emby.media/linux-server.html Click Debian, then you'll see the link to the beta repository. I'm about to try this to see if it fixes the memory leak problem I'm having. Will this just overwrite the existing installation?
Luke 42077 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Please note we don't recommend switching the same Emby Server installation between release channels. The beta is meant for testing. If you intend to try that we suggest you try it separately in another environment.
gdselzer 0 Posted November 27, 2016 Author Posted November 27, 2016 I'm not sure what that means for my situation. Should I uninstall the original and install the beta? Or will installing the beta overwrite the original?
Luke 42077 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 It's just our advice. If you're already willing to uninstall then you'll probably not be too bothered if the change creates a new problem. So in your case, I think you're fine to just install it on top, or fresh if you prefer.
gdselzer 0 Posted November 27, 2016 Author Posted November 27, 2016 Getting a message that emby-server-beta needs libc6 2.24 or higher. But several Raspbian files need libc6 2.20 or lower. Any suggestions on how to beat this dependency circle?
Luke 42077 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 i'm not sure to be honest. we've bumped our minimum version requirement of mono recently, that might be what's causing that.
gdselzer 0 Posted November 27, 2016 Author Posted November 27, 2016 I was able to get it to install without any complaints by adding the Stretch repos and using the libc6 packages from there. However when I run: sudo systemctl start emby-server.service the server immediately crashes. emby-server.log contains the following: Unhandled Exception: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly or one of its dependencies. File name: 'System.Runtime, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'
Luke 42077 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Can you please provide the complete log files. thanks.
gdselzer 0 Posted November 27, 2016 Author Posted November 27, 2016 That's all there is. Nothing under /var/lib/emby-server/logs
Luke 42077 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 The version number is fine although I think you need the mono provided by our package and not the one listed in your how-to guide above. Ours is based on the package mono-devel Which I think will have what is missing here.
gdselzer 0 Posted November 27, 2016 Author Posted November 27, 2016 Can I just remove the mono-project repo from sources.list.d and rely on your repo to provide all the necessary mono packages?
