I know I am probably in the minority, but how hard would it be to get the code basicly that the Android TV Emby client sends to the server when you click on a link?

My house is full of Arduino and Raspberry Pi boards, sensors, etc. Along with that I have a Google Home, Nest, a bunch of Hue bulbs, smart door locks, a Ring video doorbell, a Smartthings hub, a Hue hub etc. I'm using a Nvidia Shield to watch Emby on.

I've currently meshed together controls using ITTT, maker, tasker and have began working with the Google Home ADK.

Since I sideload a number of Android apps on the Shield TV it handles it but it is slow due to me having to have Tasker open Emby and use the arrow keys to select links in Emby.

At bedtime we like to just tell Google Home that we are going to bed and it triggers a list of events. Dimming the lights, turning the TV down to the level we like sleeping at and selecting a show we can sleep to on shuffle like Archer.

If I could just send the same command to the server that the Shield currently does by manually clicking through the menus to Shows, then clicking on it and picking shuffle it would be a huge time saver and something to build off of.

I even have it where if I'm awake I can say "Hey Google play Venture Brothers on random" and it will click through, and start it up.

I have even got to the point where I have a list of shows so I can tell it to play something funny and it will pick a random show from my list of comedies.

Sounds great. I have a Android Wear watch with Google Assistant built in. I'd love to be able to tell it to play stuff on Emby. I'm thinking of buying a Google Home too. Looking forward to this feature. Thank you!

Thanks Luke, good to know. I just noticed this announcement Google Assistant Now on Android TV

It's still a few months away, but I'm looking at a new TV, and the Sony Bravia's with Android TV built in look really interesting. This video below shows off some amazing features. My dream would be to replace that 'Available on Netflix' button to include 'Available on Emby'.

Google Assistant is now available on the Nvidia Shield. I just downloaded the update today. I haven't played with the Emby App yet but some apps respond to stop, play/pause, skip, etc. Kodi works well with it. There seem to be still some kinks to work out, but it's working pretty good right now.

My google assistant submit have been refused, bewause google assistant don't recognize fine "emby" word.

"Ok google, talk to emby" don't work. it undestood "Ok google, talk to MB"...

I must find an other word to talk with emby... It's so frustrating.

Do you have any idea of each word can be fine?

I also have updated my shield and have the same problem with opening Emby. Google just does not like that word. It also still fails to control my Samsung TV's volume using CEC which I really hoped they would have fixed by now. I finally got fed up with having so many devices going through home, each to it's own hub and limited set of controls. Even with a developer IFTTT account with the ability to run multiple commands in a row it is still to much of a mess. I ended up grabbing a Raspberry Pi I had around the house and installing Home Assistant on it. With it, a ZWave stick and Google Assistants API along with Emby's API I should be able to control everything the way I want to. I will even take control over the Samsung TV even if I have to send command strings directly to it's serial port.

Would a word with the same pronunciation work? Embi?

I have send an audio find at google with "emby" pronunciation, this file must increase "emby" recognition.

My app is on review on Google action. I review is success, I will add a message on this post.

I started playing with the update as well... Every time I said "Emby", my shield heard "MB".

*grumble*

Netflix works good though.

If you say "open Emby for Android TV" it opens !!

I guess that's what it's known as in Google Play Store.

No love for me... It tries to "open MB for Android TV.

Maybe because I'm using the beta?

I'm on beta server and beta app.

I couldn't get it to work on my 2015 Shield TV using the remote, but works with the controller!!

Ah... Maybe it's just the crappy microphone in the remote then.

I won't be able to test it for a few days, but I'll report back when I do.

Hey,

My emby google assistant app have been approved.

Now on you google home or on you smartphone you can say :

talk to emby server to start "a movie", like "talk to emby server to start harry potter".

After say that, emby ask you where to play the movie (you can use each app, connected to you emby server, like kodi, a dlna tv).

Curently, my emby app only allow to start a movie, series are not supported.

To work, the google home app need to know how contact you emby server. To do that, you must create an account on https://emby-google-home.herokuapp.com/signUp, after have create an account you must specify :

   - your emby access link, http://yourexternalip:port. Your emby server must be accessible on internet

   - emby user to use and optionaly the password

Currently, only english is supported.

This app is a community app, and not official app developed by Emby developers. Source code can be found https://github.com/deblockt/emby-google-home, if someone want to help me, he is welcome.

Nice work but for the readers, I want you all to realize this is a community member contribution and in no way associated with Emby.

Thanks.
