jackyaz 0 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Say I have 2 HDHomerun Connects (4 tuners in total), and want to watch live TV in Emby for Kodi on 2 devices. I then set up 2 recordings in Emby (rather than Kodi), how would Emby know which tuner was available? Would Emby itself be able to run the recording or does it require Kodi to in fact schedule recording?

mellomade 141 Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Emby uses tuners on a first come first serve basis. If you start viewing Live TV on 2 devices - it will use Tuner 0 and 1 from the first Connect in your list. Then any recordings that start later will use the first tuner available. You can see the list of tuners and their status on the Live TV page from your dashboard. Emby server handles all the recording duties. Emby for Kodi add-on does not have Live TV support - so scheduling your recordings from the web interface is preferable.
jackyaz 0 Posted November 13, 2016 Author Posted November 13, 2016 Thanks, that's useful info! So if I was running OSMC (Kodi distro) on a Pi, how would I go about viewing Live TV if I was using Emby for Kodi? Or would I install an additional plugin?
mellomade 141 Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 If you are using a build that uses at least Jarvis you can install the HDHomerun PVR add-on from the Kodi repo. That is the one I use for Live TV with LibreELEC and it works great. Just make sure you have a license for your Pi for MPEG-2 decoding. Otherwise playback will not work.
jackyaz 0 Posted November 13, 2016 Author Posted November 13, 2016 Out of interest is recording functionality in the pipeline for the Emby for Kodi addon? It would be nice to be able to hit Record while watching something in Kodi and have Emby server handle the recording.

If it's ever created, it will be a separate Kodi add-on. Is it not simple in Emby? We have lots of great live tv support in our apps.
