Audio Pass thru on android devices

Just looking at retiring the MCPC to the loft as it's getting crammed with HDDs now .. want an android device i think but i want audio pass thru to my amp.. any suggestions would be great... ta

The Shield is your best bet.

 

At this point, we can bitstream the "standard" audio formats (DD, DTS).  If you need the extended or HD ones then you can also get that with an external player and we will be looking at it in an upcoming release.

Pi2/Pi3 with OSMC are nice too - especially with new Kodi 17 builds with libCEC 4.0.x

All depends if You need something powerfull for gaming, or just a box to play movies.

Pi has only one drawback - cant do h265/HEVC. For me it's not a problem, because HEVC will be transcoded by my Syno ...

Shield is seriously the best.  If you can't afford it, either fire tv2 or Mi Box.  All of these will direct play pretty much everything.

Tbh rather get a nuc than a shield.. Soooo expensive

IR remote = next remote ... what's the point if we have CEC?

If someone doesn't want CEC, and thinks about IR remote then maybe KODI+Yatse is better idea?
