So when I login to Emby it says 3.0.8500 is now available:

However there is nothing about 3.0.8500 in the Announcements Section on this forum

There is nothing posted in the Blog:

https://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1-emby-blog/

Also under Latest News in the dashboard there is nothing:

I think this was mentioned before, but when you release a new version, can you please publish the release notes so we can see what the changes are BEFORE THE UPDATE IS INSTALLED ???

Thank god I have it setup as a Service or this update would have already been applied and I would have NO IDEA what has been changed.

So again, developers:  When you release an update please at the same time publish the release notes!!!

BTW - on Synology I have an info, that I should go to Package Center and update there ... problem is, that Synology Package Center is not showing update 8500 (or wasn't showing yesterday) :D

End users should not have to go hunt around to find release notes.

They should be pushed down with the "new version available" message on the dashboard.

Or at the very least it should be on this website in the announcements section, or on the blog.

Why do I need to go to some other persons website in order to find release notes?

That isn't "some other person's web site".  It is the official repository for our releases and is the proper resource for that information if we haven't had a chance to publish it elsewhere yet.  We don't want to hold up critical fixes for red tape.

Its some other 3rd party site, its not emby.media which is the official site.

Why not have a link to that site if its offical?

Why is the no link to is on the Dashboard?

Why is there no link to is it emby.media?

Any other application when they release update or new version they ALWAYS at the same time have the release notes available so users can review what is being changed and decide if they want to upgrade or not.

But for some reason your developers are not following industry standard practice and pushing down updates without documentation.

I don't call that "red tape"  I call that normal way of doing things and respect to your users by providing the information before update is installed

The update wasn't pushed down to you, you didn't install it due to running the service version.

If it was the non-service version you can have auto updates set to off.

You can wait until the info is published here before you install if you want.

Whilst I see what you are trying to say, nothing has happened to your system...

I know nothing happened to my system, because I have it set to run as a service, thank god that I do, and don't have auto-updates enabled.

The point is, that there is a new version available for update, but no information has been published with it.  Nothing on emby.media, and nothing pushed down to the "Latest News" on my Emby dashboard.

Information for the version should be published at the same time, This new update has been available for me to install now for almost 2 days, and no info.

it a garbage release it still suffers from major bugs like build 8400 does

guys lets all move on.. Ebr commented as to the reason.. this isnt feeling at all productive anymore to me..

jayw - i would then update any threads for each bug just confirming that it still occurs in this release so each can be worked on and hopefully fixed.

no product is perfect, but the small crew of devs we have for our apps TRY.. and this is just a point that YES could be better, but would take time away from other things... as was said above

There is actually a link to the GitHub pages in the dashboard in the footer of each page.

Every help link also links to Github.

The main site also has a link among the social media links in the header.

Having to use Github for release notes isn't ideal but it makes information available.
