5oul5olja 0 Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Hi folks. I have tried installing Emby on a DS211J four times now. Each time it seems the installation is successful and Emby starts running. However it takes the setup wizard an hour or more to complete and then I can barely get into the dashboard. The login screen sits there with the spinning circle, I have waited an hour for that once. When I did get into the page it just sits there with spinning circle again and I can't select anything. Each time I am able to start the Wizard, but the first page with the language selection had the spinning circle for about 20min before I was able to move onto the next step. Each step after that has taken 5min minimum. Just keep seeing that spinning circle. It can't be my media collection as I haven't even told Emby where it is yet, and even then it would only be about 20 movies or and 10 TV series. I haven't done anything to try and add my Music collection which is more extensive I have done a sendlogs during the the latest attempt at a clean install while that circle was spinning away on the first page of the setup wizard. I have noticed there seems to be a lot of disk activity flashing away on the disk station. sendlogs_DiskStation_synology_88f6281_211j_20161030T083215UTC.tgz Any help would be appreciated.
Luke 42077 Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Hi there, welcome. Can you please attach a server log to this post? Thanks !
Happy2Play 9780 Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Is the server supported on DS211? Since it isn't currently support on a DS213.
5oul5olja 0 Posted October 30, 2016 Author Posted October 30, 2016 Love to attach the logs. I ran sendlogs, but where does it store the file on the server? Can't find it and it looks like it tried to upload it somewhere? Sorry, I may have read the incorrect instructions on how to do the logs at some point. The DS211j has the Marvell Kirkwood according to the wiki so I guess it is supported?
5oul5olja 0 Posted November 1, 2016 Author Posted November 1, 2016 could you point me to how to grab the logs considering i cant get into the dashboard? Thanks
5oul5olja 0 Posted November 1, 2016 Author Posted November 1, 2016 I do have an update to this. When I had a look today I noticed there was an update available on the Package Center. I have updated to v3.0.8400 and was able to finally login to the dashboard. It is still very slow and had to wait a long while for it to login. Once in the dashboard it takes about 30sec to load pages when I select something in the menu on the left side. I have selected one of my movie folders with 62 movies to add to the library and started a scan. It was doing ok but seems to have stalled about half way according to the progress bar. So far it has taken over an hour and still going. I was able to access the logs through the dashboard, hopefully attached now. Emby_Server_Log_2016-10-30.7z Emby_Server_Log_2016-11-01.7z

5oul5olja 0 Posted November 1, 2016 Author Posted November 1, 2016 Hi thanks for your help. I ran sendlogs and got the output: Upload completed successfully, please include this filename with your ticket...sendlogs_DiskStation_synology_88f6281_211j_20161101T114335UTC.tgz I am assuming it is uploaded somewhere you can get it? 5oul5olja 0 Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 G'day again Any update as to what is going on here? It is so slow as to be unusable. Is it just the DS211j is not up to the task? I did have Plex running on it fine but want to get Emby happening as I am running Kodi on my TV, and like how you guys integrate. I haven't even tried to connect Kodi yet as I can't even get basic stuff to happen through the browser yet. Thanks for your time
5oul5olja 0 Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 Well I notice there has not been any action on this in over a week so either you guys are too busy, or just don't know. So that leaves me the only other option of uninstalling and giving up on using Emby
solabc16 379 Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Hello @@5oul5olja Apologies, it's been a busy week with new releases going out. The DS211j is always going to be marginal due to what's under the bonnet, but we do have users that have it running. The initial start-up is going to be slow and I can see this in the logs, but that only happens when you update the package or restart your NAS; I wouldn't try doing anything for 5 minutes after starting up. Again, the initial library scan is going to be more of a sweat for this type of machine, but again it's only something that happens once. I can see from the logs you have a number of DLNA capable devices on your network, if you are not planning to playback from Emby Server using DLNA I would recommned switching this functionality off : Manage Server -> Extras -> DLNA -> Enable DLNA Play To / Enable DLNA server. I would also recommend disabling realtime monitoring on all of your libraries : Manage Server -> Library -> <your library> -> Manage Folders -> Enable real time monitoring If you're not currently running 3.0.8500 can you do that and after making these changes and re-starting the system, send me your logs again. - James
AlbyZas 0 Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 Hello, I want to post here regarding Emby for Synology DS211j, which I have for 7 years as my family Media Server, specially for photos, videos, music and documents. I have DSM 5.2-5967 Update 2. I decided to install Emby because of Kodi IPTV Box that I use for Live TV and Video viewing on my TV. Despite from what was said above I experience the same problems but I noticed when Discstation gets more work load or trying to log in to Emby Dashboard when it does other jobs - Emby stops. Yes, the package is being disabled by the Discstation in Package Center. I start it manually, and everything starts from the beginning. And it continuous like that! I know that I have a lot of files on my NAS after all these years. And there's a lot of places and files to be scanned. I remember once I tried to copy around 1000 photos from my PC to NAS directly and it took a week or more for the Discstation to organize all these files and compose all thumbnails etc. I believe, something similar is happening with DS211j when starting Emby. I could wait patiently to finish scanning and then see how it works. But when it stops by itself so there's not much to do for me. Only if Emby could create some back-up and save it periodically so that when service starts again (e.g. manually after crash) it doesn't have to start from beginning, just continue from the last saved buck-up. I have made Run Diagnostics and Sent diagnositics through terminal (PuTTy) but I am not able to retrieve the log file. I don't remember Linux commands I hope there's some way out and I hope some ideas could improve the Emby for legacy NAS.
