tman 47 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Can anyone tell me if there's ANY alternative in to get TV Guide information into Emby other than Schedules Direct subscription service? I have my HDHR working in Emby, but no guide data, and I don't want to pay a guide 'tax' just to see what's on. It's been Schedules Direct only for months now, and that's it. What about an XML import option if we can pull guide data down ourselves using many of the 'free' tools? It's really frustrating that this final piece is still as far away as ever.
ebr 16169 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 There is xml guide support in the current beta. However, why do you think that having to pay (a really small amount) for work done by others is a "tax"...? All that data organized by line up etc. has to be created by actual people.
Luke 42077 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 You have always paid for guide data, the only difference before is that it was build into the cost of windows. As Ebr said there are people who curate that data who depend on the income to earn a living.
tman 47 Posted June 26, 2016 Author Posted June 26, 2016 Sorry for the blunt question. In the UK, I've already paid for MCE, and I pay for a TV license (which is a tax, believe me). All guide data is broadcast OTA for anyone who can receive terrestrial TV, so I believe I'm entitled to use that EPG information for whatever I want in my own house. Schedules Direct was very much a US-first service, so outside of the US, there wasn't really any other choice. Good to know that the XML import facility is on the way. Will it be compatible with the XMLTV files generated by EPG Collector?
tman 47 Posted July 9, 2016 Author Posted July 9, 2016 Great to see the XMLTV guide function in the latest build. I've been creating XML guide data from my HDHR using EPG Collector on my server for the last few days in anticipation. The guide data is collected every day at 2am, and a file of approximately 8MB is created. I immediately setup the XML TV option in Emby, and it processed the guide file ok. The server logs confirm this, but, no guide data is visible in the Web UI. Nothing at all. I've left it for 5 hours now, but still nothing. How do I debug this or work out? Thanks
Luke 42077 Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 maybe it couldn't match up the guide data with the channels. try using the channel mapping option.
