cw-kid 192 Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Hi The TV show "Black Sails" has missing episode synopsis but only for season 3. Seasons 1&2 episodes appear to be displaying synopsis text OK. Looking for season 3 on TheTVDB site there is no episode synopsis / overviews. Looking on TheMovieDB and IMDB they do have synopsis information. If I edit this show in the Emby metadata manager it does have an IMDB ID and a TheTVDB ID. I've tried refreshing a couple of episodes but still no synopsis text showing. Thanks
Happy2Play 9782 Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 (edited) What providers do you have enable for episodes? Since TMDB and OMDB were added but disabled by default, I believe. Just refreshed E8 and E9 and they pulled in synopsis. Edited March 22, 2016 by Happy2Play
cw-kid 192 Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) Hi For Episodes it looks like this: Only TheTVDB is ticked and there appears to be no option for TheMovieDB or IMDB ? I could try turning on the "Open Movie Database" one I guess, not sure why the other providers are not listed in here ? Thanks Edited March 23, 2016 by cw-kid
cw-kid 192 Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 I enabled the OMDB option for episodes and saved the settings, however after refreshing two episodes they still have no synopsis. I am unsure how to manually search the OMDB website I cannot see their website ? Only this API page http://www.omdbapi.com/ Thanks
Solution Happy2Play 9782 Posted March 23, 2016 Solution Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) TVDB has no synopsis for Season 3 episodes so until someone in the community gives them one, they will always be blank. TMDB was added for your exact issue. IMDB will never be an option do to the api usage costing around $15,000 a year. http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/32102-feature-request-tmdb-as-episode-provider Sorry, since you don't have this option you must by on the Stable Release so you will have to wait until it is promoted or install the Beta if you want the option now. cw-kid 192 Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) Yes its the stable version. TMDB does have episode overviews https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/47665-black-sails/season/3 I assume you meant that OMDB does not have them? How did you check that? Cheers Edit I see your edit to say TVDB yes that doesn't have any overviews Edited March 23, 2016 by cw-kid
Happy2Play 9782 Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 The new Metadata Viewer plugin found in Testing Area shows what each provide has. 1
cw-kid 192 Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) I updated to the beta version and I now have an option for TMDB under episodes. After refreshing the episodes they now have synopsis. Thanks for your help. I also installed the metadata viewer dll / plug-in you mentioned and restarted the Emby server. However I do not see the "View Raw Metadata" option on any of the menus. Edited March 23, 2016 by cw-kid
cw-kid 192 Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) If I look in to the folder C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\plugins where I placed the dll it does seem to have created itself a new sub-folder called MetadataViewer which contains some additional files. metadataeditor.js metadataviewer.js metadataviewer.template.html EDIT: Can see it now on the menu, seems you have to do this in the metadata manager and not from the library front-end, which makes sense. cw-kid 192 Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) OK this is interesting For the OmdbEpisodeProvider there is a synopsis but its listed in the "ShortOverview" field rather than the "Overview" field. Which is presumably why Emby did not pull this synopsis down from OMDB when I tried previously. As you can see the MovieDBEpisodeProvider has the synopsis correctly in the "Overview" field and this is what Emby is now displaying after I updated to the beta etc. (Kodi has also now picked up OK the synopsis for these episodes). And we can see that TvdbEpisodeProvider has no overview as we had already established. Edited March 23, 2016 by cw-kid
