overClocked! 65 Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I'm currently running Emby Server Version 3.0.5818.0. I really want to update to take advantage of these new features introduced in 3.0.5870, but am hesitant to do so with all the problems reported with images disappearing across the apps. Now I see that there has been an update to the stable release track with 3.0.5871, but I don't see any information about what's been fixed. I'm heeding the warnings about the database update and how it's not recommended to rollback to previous versions because of those backend changes. Version 3.0.5818.0 is pretty solid for me and I don't want to regret installing the new version. Can someone enlighten me as to the state of the new Windows server version? Should I take the plunge, or hold off?
Happy2Play 9783 Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 (edited) Since every ones setup is different you have to choose. But with the database changes everything should be faster. http://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-286-emby-server-305870-released/ https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/releases Note if you save metadata in xml format then you will need to download the XML Saver plugin, I believe 5818 was the last version that still had xml in the server core. And if you are still using custom Imagebyname location you will need to update that using the custom metadata location. Edited February 20, 2016 by Happy2Play
overClocked! 65 Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 I don't use any custom paths. I do already use the XML plugin to save metadata. Guess I'll just image my system drive first and if I have problems, just restore from the backup. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
overClocked! 65 Posted March 6, 2016 Author Posted March 6, 2016 Waited for a couple of stable releases and I'm happy to report that the upgrade went without a single hitch. The initial library and chapter image extraction scans took quite a while, but nothing earth shattering. Just let it run overnight and I didn't lose any images from my library or from people in any of the clients and so far, everything seems to be working smoothly on version 3.0.5882.0.
