Audio mangling transcoding MP3->AAC

Looks like FFMPEG is mangling audio on a lot of my files when converting from MP3 to AAC during transcoding.  Kind of like it's been run through a tin can filter and then clipped.  I tested it by snagging the command line on the FFMPEG process and running it myself and comparing the original and reencode in vlc.  I couldn't find any settings that made it work properly (Edit: besides not reencoding the audio).

 

However I noticed here http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/24151-theme-blue-neon-night/ a nicer channel that has a lot more options, and one specifically for skipping the AAC encoding.  This channel is way nicer than the official one!

 

Maybe the official one needs some touching up, eh?
