Some movie files sound is being transcoded when it shouldnt be in ET.  All movies that are being transcoded for ET are working as they should in EMC.

its a new trend that has started but its only affecting a couple of different movies some new some old plus the video is quite choppy.  when i bring up context menu it doesnt list any subtitles other than a srt and i cant turn it off from being forced.

this is log of a transcoded movie.

Noticed this:

"Path":"D:\\Movies\\Everest (2015)\\Everest.mkv"

Unless you are running ET on the same machine as the server, that is going to have to transcode because the ET machine will have no access to the "D" drive on the server machine.  You would need to setup path substitution.

You would need to setup path substitution.

Or use UNC paths when setting up the library - e.g. instead of "D:/Movies" use "\\ServerName\Movies".

I am watching on same machine as everything is hosted.

Looking further, you are requesting a subtitle stream that is PGS.  I believe we will have no choice but to transcode and burn those in (Luke can confirm).

It may be a forced subtitle track that is being selected automatically since it is, well, forced... ;).

Why is the sound being transcoded?

Other files with the same sound play as the should and the problem files play as they should on emby for MC

Because DTS cannot be passed via the transcoded stream.

But why is it being transcoded?

Other dts dts hd files work perfectly fine.

Playing the same movie via emby for WMC it plays as it should with dts hd track being played

I think what ebr is saying, since it has to transcode (not because of the audio) it cannot package DTS information into the transport container. So this has to become mp3, aac or ac3. This is a limitation of DTS. Your audio being DTS alone would not cause transcoding. You understand?
