Fallen Archangel 0 Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Hello, I've been using an Emby server for quite some time. I've recently decided to try out the camera upload feature, as I was hoping to use it as a sort of localized back up. I keep the server up to date, running on an also fully up to date Ubuntu server. All of my librarus are located on an external drive mounted at /medis/usb/ each in a subfolder of their own. (Movies, music, TV series, etc.) I have a library for photos set at /media/usb/devices/fallen/. My device has been set to use camera upload on the server, and my custom path is the same as the one above. The problem is that I've never gotten my phone (Android) to upload anything. I have manually placed files in the folder using ftp, and the pictures I did manually are working perfectly. I just can't get my phone to upload them. I've read all of the (little) documentation I could find regarding that feature, and I haven't been able to find a solution. Any idea would be appreciated. Photo library: /media/usb/Devices/Fallen Normal camera upload path; /media/usb/Devices/ (With the box for sub directoris on.) Custom device upload path: /media/usb/Devices/Fallen
Luke 42077 Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Hi, check out our wiki on camera upload which goes over the procedure to enable it: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Camera%20upload let us know if you still have issues after that. thanks.
Fallen Archangel 0 Posted December 30, 2015 Author Posted December 30, 2015 That was the original documentation I followed when setting up Camera Upload. The only difference I can see between my setup and a few others I've seen is that I don't have Samba set up. To be sure this was not a permissions issue, I gave 'emby' full rights to the external drive where my libraries are stored. I also ensured that I was on WiFi (same network in fact) and my battery was full before trying to sync my device. I read another post where it said it only happens occasionally, however it has been days since this was set up. If it supposed to upload at a set time, I can try to sniff the traffic to see if it's actually communicatin with the Emby server at all. I have three different devices with Camera Upload enabled. (Both on the server, as well as in the emby app.) They are all running android, two on lolipop. I believe the third is most likely kitkat.
Luke 42077 Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 go into system settings -> accounts and check when the last time the sync process was run. you can kick it off manually inside the app from the sync menu.
Fallen Archangel 0 Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 go into system settings -> accounts and check when the last time the sync process was run. you can kick it off manually inside the app from the sync menu. I've tried this before and it it syncs for maybe two seconds. So it doesn't really seem to be doing anything. Is this part of the Sync built in to Emby? Because I don't have premium, so that may be my issue. I've also double checked the folder where it is looking on my android.
Luke 42077 Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 you don't need emby premiere for camera upload. please grab the sync service log http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/15638-how-to-report-an-android-problem
Fallen Archangel 0 Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 (edited) Here is the sync log from my android devicehttp://pastebin.com/r0Uf8gWjAnd here is the other log file beside it.http://pastebin.com/Ygxii3EwThe most recent log from the emby server is to large to use with pastebin, so I have postedThe first 150 linesand the last 150 lines. If you need the full file, I will upload it to a file hosting website.EDIT:Just an update, I started a second server on a Windows 10 machine. It's set up mostly the same, but I made sure path substitution was set up, and that everyone had full access to the library location. Still the same results. Because of this I'm starting to think I'm doing something incorrectly on my configuration. And whatever it is, it's probably not related to the fact it was running on Ubuntu.Devices - > DevicesDevices - > Camera Upload And I have to seperate librarys set for photos, just in case. One is E:\Photos\ , the other is E:\Photos\Fallen\On my android device, I have Sync only on WiFi unchecked, and have enabled camera upload below it.If I go to Settings -> Accounts -> Emby , The sync Emby option is checked, and I have also tried the "Sync Now" option. nardoth 5 Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I have the same happening, tried the same things as above. Happened between the 8th and 10th of December, as that was when my last photos synced, so maybe an update that came around then?
Banjo 2 Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 (edited) Did anything come of this as I'm seeing the same issue? Edited June 1, 2016 by Banjo
Luke 42077 Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 i have tested camera uploading with no problem found. make sure to review the app's sync settings.
Luke 42077 Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Yea that's all you need to do. What I would do is make sure you're running the latest version of the app. Then try taking a picture with your camera, and after that, do a manual sync from the app. if the issue persists, then please provide an app log: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/15638-how-to-report-an-android-problem/ Thanks.
Banjo 2 Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 ok, I think I've got it. The Wiki seems to be out of date: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Camera-upload Not only do we have the Camera Upload path in the Devices section but there's also the Sync > Camera Upload settings which let you set another path. This was no set for for me. Turn it on allows a manual sync from the phone to upload photos. That just leaves auto-upload. When I take a photo, the Emby app is not noticing the new photo and syncing it. I have to manually open the app and run the sync.
Luke 42077 Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 it will auto-sync every hour. check your system settings under settings-> accounts to make sure it hasn't been turned off.
Banjo 2 Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Is there a way to reduce the polling interval or better yet, use a notification to react immediately? I notice that my owncloud client picks up the new photo almost instantly.
Luke 42077 Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 it's probably something we can look at in the future ,yes. 1
