Swynol 375 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Not sure how long it hasnt been working for but previously i had shortcuts to movie folders in other folders so that they appeared in more than one library. for example i have a few media libraries. Movies, Blu-Rays, 3D Movies. I created shortcuts of my 3D films inside my Movies Library which meant that the 3D films showed in both Libraries. however recently they no longer show up there. i think i know what you will say, is to add the 3D Movies folder location to the Movies Library however because my Movies Folder is arranged As A- Avengers Ace Ventura B- Badboys If i add my 3D folder location to the Movies Library i get A- Avengers Ace Ventura Avengers 3D- B-

Swynol 375 Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) sorry for the double post, i was half way through writing it when i thought it errored out. thanks ebr - must of overlooked that. Was there a big performance issue with it? Edited October 15, 2015 by Swynol
Swynol 375 Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 for anyone else looking for it. the location to change it is C:\Users\%username%AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\config\system.xml and change the false to true <EnableWindowsShortcuts>true</EnableWindowsShortcuts>
ebr 16170 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Yes, this was at the root of many people's performance problems because when the shortcuts go bad, everything slows way down looking for them.
Swynol 375 Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 hi ebr, i enabled the above but my shortcuts are showing in the wrong location. they show as per the screen shot below rather than in the A-Z folders.
Luke 42077 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 you need to run the dev server in order to use the hidden config switch, as an issue with unfortunately slipped into the stable release.
Swynol 375 Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) ok thanks Luke. i'm currently using Beta, will give Dev a whirl Edited October 15, 2015 by Swynol

pepper08 0 Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Having used the (now deprecated) shortcuts feature to quickly and easily setup subfolders for the kids to use, what is the recommended way to do this now? I can do this by creating a library for the kids and then adding the folders I want them to access, but I can only add one folder at a time. So tedious!! Is there a better way to do this?
pepper08 0 Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 I take it back........creating a library doesn't work quite right. I don't see a way to select just the subfolders I want and have them show up "properly". What I mean is that that instead of getting a nice list like: Kids --- Arthur -- Season 1 -- Season 2 --- Big Hero Six --- Curious George -- Season 1 -- Season 2 --- Planes --- Planes Fire and Rescue --- Wild Kratts -- Season 1 -- Season 2 instead it just throws everything into one top level: --- Arthur Season 1 --- Arthur Season 2 --- Big Hero Six --- Curious George Season 1 --- Curious George Season 2 etc Is there an easier way to organize access to a subset of folders and still have Emby respect the folder structure for the selected subset?
Luke 42077 Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 we do not throw seasons on to the same level as other tv series, so if that's what you're seeing then there's something else going on there.
