piejanssens 3 Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 (edited) I'm using Argus-TV as my PVR backend on Windows. I will be installing Emby server replacing my mysql library for Kodi. Main reason is transcoding support. How do I get transcoding to work for live TV? Argus TV <-> Kodi Argus TV <--> Emby server <--> Kodi/Emby iOS Argus TV <-> Kodi + Argus <--> Emby Edited August 19, 2015 by piejanssens
piejanssens 3 Posted August 20, 2015 Author Posted August 20, 2015 Apparently none of the above because there is no Argus TV plugin I'm going to replace my Argus TV setup with MediaPortal, but the basic question remains the same: Does Kodi get PVR through the Emby addon in Kodi, or directly from MP?
Angelblue05 4132 Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 It is not handled through the add-on. Only movies, tv shows and music are currently supported. There is no plan to add it to the current add-on because they do not work in the same way. Tranquil 94 Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 DvbLink works fine with transcoding within Kodi and emby. Gesendet von meinem GT-I9506 mit Tapatalk
piejanssens 3 Posted August 20, 2015 Author Posted August 20, 2015 DvbLink works fine with transcoding within Kodi and emby. Gesendet von meinem GT-I9506 mit Tapatalk I see that the DVBLink server would cost me 49EUR. Is it worth it, thus better performance/stability as MP?
pünktchen 1409 Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I see that the DVBLink server would cost me 49EUR. Is it worth it, thus better performance/stability as MP?If you want transcoded live tv in Kodi you probably have to go the DVBLink route. If it's enough for you to get transcoded live tv in the Emby apps i would take MediaPortal - their forum support is really great.Performance/stability is not the right question! Every to its own...
balkerman 7 Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Dvblink is working flawlessly for me in kodi, setup was a breeze in kodi. I remember setting up dvblink in wmc was such a pain, and playback would frequency fail. I'm amazed how easy it could have been all along...
