install dev version

I'm getting the error "can´t send a Emby-Connect request (ConnectServerId error)" and one off the solutions i've read is installing the dev version but doing this: "dashboard > Advanced > General tab > automatic updates > Switch to Dev" does nothing. my server is allways up to date with version 3.0.5621.4. How do I install the dev version?

Ok. Thank you. Doing that removes emby-server, do I loose my database?
