mgworek 134 Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 (edited) Came home from work and can't play anything in Kodi. Error message says "Monitoring Service is not running. If you have just installed please restart Kodi" Which I did and same error. Only thing I did today was updated my docker to a new docker hurricanehernandez created. My web and fire tv clients work fine. Emby for Kodi 0.1.82 Emby Server 3.0.5607.2 Edited May 14, 2015 by mgworek
Angelblue05 4132 Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Can you post your log? thanks, we added a monitor to the service of the addon in case it stops working, we want to make sure to let you know.
mgworek 134 Posted May 15, 2015 Author Posted May 15, 2015 Ok. I assume you need the log from Kodi. Can you let me know where to find it? I have not had to get it before. I also need to turn debug on for the logs, right?
Angelblue05 4132 Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Yes in Kodi, Check my signature - How to report a problem in Kodi

Angelblue05 4132 Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 (edited) Ok maybe you have signatures hidden: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/17599-how-to-report-a-problem/ Edit: Actually, I've noticed something. Let me try to fix it. Edited May 15, 2015 by Angelblue05
mgworek 134 Posted May 15, 2015 Author Posted May 15, 2015 I can see them. I think maybe I just never noticed it. Sorry I didn't get the chance to get the logs yet. I am going to try today. In the evening when its tv time, the wife doesn't like geek time so I switched to the fire tv and wasn't able to try and get the logs.
mgworek 134 Posted May 15, 2015 Author Posted May 15, 2015 well now it works but I should have gotten a different error message and didn't. I rebooted my whole server this morning. Went to Kodi and tried to play something, it sat thinking for a second and nothing happened. I then realized I didn't start my Emby docker. Shouldn't it have told me it at least it couldn't play the video? So once I started Emby, kodi played the video fine. So the reboot of my whole unraid server fixed the problem. Yesterday restarting the Emby docker did not fix the problem. I have not rebooted Kodi so I can still get to my logs if you still want to see them to still figure out why the message came up yesterday.
xnappo 1611 Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 I really recommend turning auto updates off for the addon - especially if this is being used in a family situation. http://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on_manager#Updating
Angelblue05 4132 Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 It probably did tell you the server was offline, but the notification only pop up once per server offline "event" and if it so happens another notification pops up, then it overrides it. I'll look into it. Thanks @@mgworek
Feanorean 0 Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 (edited) I have the exact same issue - the majority of videos do not play, with "monitoring service is not running". Log http://goo.gl/w8Ks2s Edited May 17, 2015 by Feanorean
Angelblue05 4132 Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Can you try version 0.1.9 to see if it solves this issue? Thanks
Feanorean 0 Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 That seems to have done it - just tried several in a row and all have worked - thank you!
Feanorean 0 Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 (edited) I spoke too soon - if it's possible, it seems to be doing it less frequently, but it has just done it again. Edited May 17, 2015 by Feanorean
Angelblue05 4132 Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 (edited) Ok we will reconsider this. Thanks for reporting @@Feanorean I've removed the monitor in version 0.1.9. If you are having difficulties, try uninstalling/ reinstalling the Emby addon from the Emby repo (you should not lose any settings).
