MediaInfo doesn't appear to be working properly in Emby

There only seems to be one issue with it, when I click in to the collection in the Emby web GUI the posters are missing.

Yet if I click in to one of the movie titles within the collection then on the next page, the poster image for that film is displayed OK.

Regarding the other issues I have some updates.

I was using the stable version of Emby server. I changed the auto update setting to beta and it updated to beta version 3.0.5607.1.

However this doesn't seem to have improved things.

1. Parental Controls Problem

As my media content in Kodi is set to USA ratings and this is the information that is in the NFO files. I have now changed my Emby server country setting from UK to USA. I then refreshed all the titles in the Emby metadata manager to pick up this change.

Now all the titles in Emby show USA ratings. Also my daughters user account is now set at  PG/TV-PG (USA).

However still when I add new movie titles to the Emby library that are above the USA rating of PG/TV-PG, they are still appearing in her Android Emby app.

For example after I made these changes, I added the movie title "88 Minutes" (Rated R) to the Emby Library and I can see this on my daughters tablet app.

I cannot see the titles from the other day however "The Purge" and "SuperFast!" they have now gone from her view.

The adult poster covers scare her, so I won't be able to let her use the Emby Android app until it works.

And here is a screen shot from the Android tablet:

2. New Movies List in Kodi Problem

Regarding the other issue of the new movies not going to the top of the new movies list in Kodi. This is still the same after the update to the beta version of the Emby server and still doesn't seem to be working as it should. I've reset the Kodi database several times to no affect.

Many Thanks

Issue #1 really you need to move over to the Server forum to get better support.

Issue #2 is weird - I think I am seeing it too in some cases.  Will check tonight.

Hi xnappo

Issue 1 as in the parental controls? OK I will post something in the server forum as you suggest.

I'm quite happy with the Auto box sets plug-in solution, apart from the missing poster images in Emby web GUI, when in the movie collection. Looks fine in Kodi though.

And the new movies list thing in Kodi is annoying but I guess we'll have to live with it.

Cheers

Yeah - the parental controls seems to be not only in Kodi right?  If so seems like a server issue.

The new movies - we can probably fix it, just need to figure out what is wrong.  If I am seeing the same thing as you:

1. Going into latest movies, the order is *close* to correct but not exactly right

2. Going into all movies, then sorting by 'date created' results in correct order

Are you seeing the same?

Will try and explain as best as I can.

I've not really been looking too closely at the order of the movie titles in the Emby web GUI as the Kodi "New Movies" list is most important to me.

1. But if I go in to the Emby web GUI now and go to HOME - LATEST

I can see some music albums and further down are some movie titles. However none of them showing here are the movie titles I have added to Emby today, so no they are not the latest.

Like wise in the web GUI if I go to MOVIES it defaults to SUGGESTIONS which I really don't like but anyway's - scrolling further down here I can see LATEST MOVIES as well. Again none of these movie titles are ones I have added today and look to be some of the first movie titles I first added to Emby last week. So again no not the latest in this area.

2. If I go to all MOVIES in the web GUI and sort by Date Added, Then in here yes I can now see some of the new movie titles I have added today. However the first four titles in this list are not movies I added today. Fifth in the list is "88 Minutes" which was the last title added to Emby.

3. And in Kodi "New Movies" area I have no idea what order they are in? It seems to be random.

Thanks.

The parental controls issue has nothing to do with Kodi, its all Emby server / Emby Android app related

In Kodi I have done my own thing with the folders and playlists and what not, so on my daughters HTPC she only sees kids stuff.

If I knew how to reset / clean the Emby server database properly so I can start importing everything again from scratch? I could import some titles in blocks at different times / days and look at the date ordering in the Emby web GUI more closely.

Actually if I compare Kodi and the Emby web GUI we can see the "New Movies" in Kodi are in the same order as the LATEST movies under the SUGGESTIONS area in the Emby web GUI.

Both are wrong:

Kodi:

Emby Web GUI:

EDIT:

Although CASINO can be seen in Kodi but not in the web GUI

I think all of the titles that can be seen in the above two screen shots are DVD VIDEO_TS titles and were some of the first titles added to the Emby library last week!

For the last few days for testing various things I have just been adding XVID .AVI titles are they are smaller in size and quicker to copy from my LIVE movie folders to the TEST movie folders which Emby is monitoring.

EDIT: Confirmed I just checked they are all DVD VIDEO_TS titles that you can see on the screen shots.

To be honest, what would be best I think is if you are able to share you Kodi database file (myvideos90.db). Is it very large? You can find it in your appdata > roaming > Kodi > userdata > (profile or) > database . I think we would be able to help you more. All my recently added are proper, and I believe none of the devs have this issue either. Looking at the database file we might be able to determine the root of the problem more easily...

Edit: all the nodes behavior depends on the information contained in there so maybe your date added data is being imported incorrectly. It's impossible to tell unless we can actually see what the scraped Emby data looks like.

In the web interface, can you go into 'reports' and check the data added?

OK will do I will give you a download link for it or something.

And you can also use Team Viewer or something if one of you DEVs want to connect to my system remotely.

If I scroll further down these LATEST lists then the next lot of titles are these:

Kodi:

5550c5b8d3daa_NewMovies7.png

Emby web GUI:

5550c5d6b0fe9_NewMovies8.png

Superfast! and Exodus Gods and Kings are .MKV and Barbie in 'A Christmas Carol' is a .MOV

None of these titles really appear to be in the correct LATEST / DATE ADDED order.

OK I have uploaded the local Kodi database MyVideos90.db to my dropbox here.

Although the issue it seems is with Emby when it imports the titles not Kodi.

Thank you for your help so far!

And the penny drops LOL!

I see what's happening now..

In the NFO file for TRON:

<dateadded>2010-02-15 15:22:53</dateadded>

So Emby is reading the Kodi date added from the Kodi NFOs.

So actually it is correct, because when I import my entire Media collection then the newer titles in the current Kodi / MySQL system will also be reflected as the newer titles in the Emby library.

For some reason I had it in my head that Emby would be creating / adding its own new "date added" dates.

So I think we will be good when I do the full import. However I cannot do this until they fix the <playcount> tag so the Watched / Unwatched statuses are retained.

Yes as Emby for Kodi scrapes the data from your Emby server, the problem most likely lies with your server, but it doesn't hurt to make sure.

Doh! Hehehe ;) well then I guess you've found the issue. What you could do maybe is use trakt to transfer your watched status over to your Emby server, at least that's one option....

I am not using Trackt so would have to look at setting all that up first and could it read my existing watched / unwatched statuses in Kodi?

Really if Kodi is now using the <playcount> tag in the NFOs and not the <watched> tag then Emby server import needs to be updated to reflect this. Would be easy then for Kodi  .NFO users migrating to Emby!

I think we can mark this thread as resolved

I will start a new one in the server forum about the Emby Parental controls and if I can find a thread for the Auto box sets plug-in I will mention on there about the poster images not showing in the movie collections.

Thanks again for your patience.

Agreed on the tag, do mention it in your server post to make the server devs aware of it. :)

Do you  use Linux or Windows?  Just thinking the fastest thing to get you moved over is a little NFO hacking script to fix both of these up.

The server is a Windows Home Server 2011 and my laptop workstation is Windows 7.

All the Kodi HTPCs are Linux OpenElec.

Like I suggested earlier the solution 9or better to say workaround) for this is rather easy. Just you a find/replace tool on the NFO files to replace the playcount tag with the watched tag...

A very simple tool that is able to do this for all files in a directory structure is Notepad++

1. download, install and launch notepad++

2. press CTRL+F for the search

3. choose "find in files

4. make sure that your export/movies directory is selected as the folder

5. In "search for" --> <playcount>1</playcount>

6. In "replace by" --> <watched>true</watched>

7. press "replace in files" button.

8. Do the import in Emby and you're all set.

Good luck! Let us know if we can assist you any further. Welcome to the Emby community ;-)

@@Luke, while this is a valid workaround, in the future you might want to consider moving to the playcount tag in the NFO files as the watched tag is no longer used by Kodi.
