Albums under Album Artist empty

Recommended Posts

On the android app, if I enter my music folder and select to view by album artist, there's two 'tabs': Bio and Albums. if I switch to albums it is empty for all the artists.

I also noticed that if I switch to the TV layout, instead of albums, What is availabe in this layout is 'Bio' and 'Actors' (with Actors being empty as well)

If I access through the web interface with the same user everything is as it seems.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

It is a bug. Music needs some love.

Redshirt (the original dev) was having trouble with large music libraries causing the app to become unresponsive so he stripped down the music views and didn't get around to implementing a better interface before he decided to take a break from development; hence the reason for such a small number of views. Nothing against Redshirt. Just something that needs to be improved going forward.

for me all album artists with path designated as within media folders show their albums...(as shown in metadata editor). All album artists in IBN show no albums..

i guess that explains my issue with why nothing shows up under "Various Artists" in the android app?

I can confirm the issue.

There are additional filtering quirks. E.g.

- Setup two Libraries with Music. For example "Samplers" and "Full Artist Albums".

- Disable aggregation of Libraries of same type.

- Enter one of the two libraries in the Android client.

- Select "Albums"

- Albums from the other - not selected - library appear.

The filtering in the web client work perfectly, but Android and MB Classic lack behind.

Thanks for explanation, why this bug exists for such a long time. Hopefully someone can fix this, because it is a very basic functionality.
