How do Accounts work?

[JGelps 3]

Sorry for the super vague title but I'm finding the account system pretty vague. Preface this with I'm trying to connect to my server remotely. But I can't figure out if anything is actually logged in with Emby Connect.

Is the account I'm posting with right now an Emby Connect account?

I have a profile on my server that has a login, not the same username as this website I guess. And I guess not using Emby Connect. When I go to Settings -> Users -> Emby Connect email address, it just tells me 'There was an error adding the Emby Connect account'

Under Change User I have a 'Manual Login' button, which I used my login for this site, but it says invalid user/pw. I tried resetting using this website username but it says 'No users were found with the entered name. Please try again, or leave the name blank to reset the password for all users on this server.'

If I go here: https://app.emby.media/#!/startup/connectlogin.html, I can login using this website credentials but it shows no servers.

I feel like the first step to getting this remotely setup it logging into (this website's?) Emby Connect account. But I don't even think I can do that.

Yes but Connect is completely optional.

Because, for that path, you use the User/pw you defined in your server as you are not going through Connect.

Connect is not required for remote access.

Connecting from Client Apps
