Thanks for fixing the track selection but the there is still an bug. The audio track is still English even I choose German before starting the playback. All available audio tracks are now visible during playback. But even when I choose German during playback the track is still English. I can choose between.

German DTS 5.1

German DTS -HD MA 7.1

English Dolby digital 5.1

English True HD 7.1 Atmos

It's not possible to change the audio to the German track.

Further considerations:

Is it possible to add an option that allows to hide completely the media information on the bottom of the media page?

The intro DB Plugin adds new chapters for recap and preview timestamps from an online database. But there is no button for this like the intro skip button. Is it possible to add such a button on your player?

Are you able to change your device language (as in the android boxes actual device language) to English > use the app with native english display working > test if a german track works? I know foreign works fine on the defaultenglish non localised version so im trying to determine if its still the case that ive fucked something translation wise, or if its a compatibility/player issue causing an issue (this will just help me debug better) however, the app also has a "save playback report" option in settings > account & help, this logs any playback issues that could be causing it, if you can also grab that , it would help heaps.

Could you also tell me what you have in the audio settings (picture and sound)

If you mean this bar:

No you cant completely disable it, You can pick in settings > details pages > playback details and select Expanded (normal) Compact (always closed) or automatic (collapses open when you focus it, closes when you move off it)

A few things to test after just doing some Korean testing with the only dual language files I have. Set the audio language to German > see if german plays. Also if it doesnt, try fast forarding about 4-5 minutes into a title then try and switch language and see if that works.

I can change the language to German if the device language is set to English. But the server transcode all of the audio tracks to aac stereo even if downmix surround to stereo is set to off. The same issue like before appears back when I switch back the device language to German

I mean an option to disable this information:

I'm gonna need the playback report. But even if in German device language are you saying you can't pick German instead of auto for audio language? Because I tested that, setting that to Korean and it played back in Korean after I set it to Korean.

Are these files direct playing in the normal emby app? When you say "doesn't work" switching while playing, could you be more specific? Like what actually happens? Does it try to switch but paused? Says buffering? Nothing at all happens and it just keeps playing English? Etc. but also the playback report will give me the info I actually need on what's being reported between emby, the app, the playback.

As for the bottom row, no. It's pretty far out of the way as it is already.

I can pick the German track but the audio is still English. All files are directly played in the normal Emby app. When I set automatic language to German the media starts to play in English. Then it starts to buffering an switches to German. But the server starts to transcode audio and video stream.

This means that the HDR content is no longer played as HDR.Arloes-playback-1793350326268.txt

I can't share the log files because there is no way to get the file from my device. Sorry

Without the log file it's going to be pretty hard to fix this, I know another German user that hasn't had any issues so not sure what's happening on your end. It's pretty easy to get the file from the device, or at least open the text file and take a photo of what it says. In emby itself too, the file you are playing (on the web) what is it saying is the default language?

I add the log in my previous post.

perfect! Immediately found the issue, there was a default gate that i forgot to disable with non english content - essentially the player just said "cant play this" even though it could so it rejected > picked english that it read as it could, in simple terms.

ARLOES — 1.7.1
Changes since 1.7.0

NEW

• Optional Glass theme with cloudy frosted panels and refined focus highlights across navigation, cards, menus and settings.

IMPROVED

• Smoother episode scrolling and more consistent spacing, highlights and navigation in the TV guide.

FIXED

• Selecting another audio language could leave the previous language playing or hide available tracks on some TVs.
• Changing audio tracks could leave playback stuck buffering.
• Auto audio labels now reflect your language and default-track preferences.
• Movie media information could lose focus or scroll back up when opening video, audio or subtitle details.

@fallenwitch3r Should be finished in review from google in the next 30~ minutes, they've been pretty quick with the reviews.

The audio track is now German with HDR direct stream. It shows on the emby admin panel that the German track is playing at the moment. But when I change the audio track vom German 5.1 to German 7.1 or English 5.1 to English 7.1 it shows still that the German track is playing no matter what track I actually choose.

Are you talking about the emby dashboard not updating? Its just a delayed progress report. ill fix that when i get the chance but as long as audio is working thats what really matters. Just pick the track you want and play it. Dont stress about what emby says, just what your ears hear.

Yes.

I tried to play other movies and one of them shows this error which isn't on the original emby app. The original emby app can play the movie without problems.

I noticed when I change the audio track during playback it took some moments and a short transcode message on the emby admin panel before the audio track finally changes

Looking good with the recent updates!

A couple of observations..

1.) The movie folder still needs to load for a very long time every time you go in. And it's fairly stuttery while it's loading if you try and browse.  I can wait 5 minutes for it to all load, back out and go back in and it starts loading all over again.

2.)IMDB trailers work absolutely perfect, but there aren't as many available. Youtube trailers do not work well, it sometimes takes you to just the youtube main page, sometimes they work. I like the option of being able to default either IMDB or Youtube trailers in settings, but maybe when clicking and holding the trailers button a popup could appear letting you choose Youtube or IMDB?

Great work so far!

Library loading should be fixed in the next update, the only "slower" load in the next build is if you have tv shows set to the "unwatched episodes" sort type, its still much faster than now but since its a non server sort type i made it will always be slower. The episodes tab was also using this by default (which it does nothing logical for) which i just changed to use by Date as the default but wont retro change already installed setups.

I'll look into trailers and see what i can do.

I really like everything I see in the app. It reminds me a lot of Jellyfin’s "Wholphin," which is a very good thing.

One addition I’d like to suggest is having "Continue Watching" items appear in the launcher—this way, you could access the content you’re currently watching directly from the launcher.

It would also be interesting to provide an option to display a mark—perhaps a heart—on the poster for content that has already been added to "favorites."

Sending is not possible. The file was streaming directly without transcoding. The media is playing without any error on the emby app

Nice work so far.

A few items:

- enabling 'my media' as the top row in the home view of course gives the grid layout of all libraries.  I have many (16) so I get one page with 4h x 3v, then need to page over right to see the remainder.  What about an option to just have a single row of these library cards (presenting with or without posters as existing) scrolling left and right?  This is the presentation in the Emby Android TV app.

- The top header allows up to six entries. Option to have more here too and scrollable left/right?  Again, this is TV apps' behavior.  This is not as critical and likely redundant if the above exists...

- For large libraries we see the app always polling from Emby to fetch the data.  Isn't it cached locally?

- collections...an option to have them grid presented and not a long line of left/right?  This would likely follow the other settings that constrain the amount of entries per row before a new line is presented, to control the grid size.  This one is very important for large collections.

- collecitons...adding to a collection should nicely show the poster art for the collection.  Emby TV does this.

I will seek out other inconsistencies but an excellent app nevertheless and it is becoming my daily driver.

TY!

Kev.

Shouldn't the popup disappear after a few seconds on its own when backing up a few seconds?  It currently takes the back button to make it vanish.

Single row is only available in non enhanced, each home section uses a full screen shell, emby adds continue watching into the same view which i dont like the design of, plus its still far less "clicks" to go to a second page vs scrolling 16 times across. You can also use "compact" which fits more items into the single sheet. The design principle has always been to negate using my media tiles - displaying everything on the home screen but also using the top/side bar as quick links.

- The top header allows up to six entries. Option to have more here too and scrollable left/right?  Again, this is TV apps' behavior.  This is not as critical and likely redundant if the above exists...

I could possibly look at this, will just have to see how it looks design wise/usability wise

- For large libraries we see the app always polling from Emby to fetch the data.  Isn't it cached locally?

This is fixed in the upcoming update - i re-wrote the entire load/cache logic - the only "slower" load is if you use my custom tv sort order of episode count, its not an emby sort function so its calculated seperately but still much faster than now. Episodes was using this sort by default and just needs to be toggled tto anything else but on my own library that tab with 26k episodes is instant now vs a few minutes

- collections...an option to have them grid presented and not a long line of left/right?  This would likely follow the other settings that constrain the amount of entries per row before a new line is presented, to control the grid size.  This one is very important for large collections.

The problem with this is I designed it around presentation, having a grid means you lose the "enhanced" overview above each title.

- collecitons...adding to a collection should nicely show the poster art for the collection.  Emby TV does this.

I'll look into this, i added the function, but never create collections from within the app so just havent fullyoptomised it (lower priority).

I will seek out other inconsistencies but an excellent app nevertheless and it is becoming my daily driver.

TY!
