Yeah I just gave it Emby, the forum address, a quick reason, and my personal info. 15 seconds, maybe.

Please let me know how you get on with the Kinora alpha release and if you find any bugs.

Thanks for testing! 😀

Kinora 1.4.0.0

Nothing you have saved changes: every setting keeps its name and default; one setting is new. Replace Kinora.dll with the new one (stop Emby, swap the file, start Emby), then refresh the browser.

New

  • No titled picture: new setting, under Career pictures. It decides what a film in a person's career shows when TMDB has no wide picture with the title on it. If you like the landscape look, older and lesser-known films often have no landscape picture to show; these cards are a good compromise. The choices are: Name card (default, a dark card with the film's name and year), Plain picture with title (a scene from the film with no text on it, darkened from the bottom, with the name and year written on it in Kinora's own lettering), Poster card (the film's poster on the left, on a soft blur of itself, with the name and year in a panel on the right, in the same lettering) or Split card (the same two things as two equal halves, edge to edge: the whole poster on the left, the name and year filling the right half). Films not out yet, and films with no poster, keep the name card. Web browser.

Fixed

  • Part-watched episodes on the home screen. Emby can mark an episode watched and still keep a resume position. Emby's own cards (Latest TV Shows, for example) then showed a watched tick, and a show's count was one short. Those cards now show the progress bar with no tick, and the count includes the part-watched episode. The round tick button that appears when you hover over such a card is now white, and pressing it marks the episode watched. Web browser.
  • A film that is only in cinemas: opening it from Info now puts the highlight on the first actor instead of on the three dots. Web browser.
  • Classic Cast & Crew layout: clicking the player's Cast & Crew tab no longer causes an error. Emby's own row stays, as the Classic layout intends. Web browser.
  • Docker, Podman and Linux: when Emby cannot write to its web folder, the Emby log now names the user Emby really runs as and the folder, and gives the command for Docker, Podman or a normal Linux install, instead of a fixed user.
  • TMDB API key text: the setting and the guide no longer say the key is instant. TMDB asks for a short request form first, and the guide explains what to put in it.

Known limitation

  • Kinora is for the web client, including the browser on a phone or tablet. The Emby apps keep their own look.

Last-minute update: Please download the new update. The build number remains the same.

Kinora 1.5.0.0

Nothing you have saved changes: every setting keeps its name and default, and one setting is new. Replace Kinora.dll with the new one (stop Emby, swap the file, start Emby), then refresh the browser.

New

  • Release dates on films in cinemas: in the home screen spotlight, a film that is in cinemas now shows when it opened in your country instead of its year: Released and the date for a new film, Re-released and the date for an old film that is back in cinemas. The date is blue. The badges, the Info line and the slide timer on these films now end at the same edge, and the same box replaces the year on the film's own page. Where TMDB has no date for your country the year stays. Needs the TV Show Air Dates plugin, at its current version. Web browser.
  • Spotlight slides: new setting, under Home screen. Emby's web client asks for only 8 slides for the big spotlight at the top of the home screen, so a long list was cut off after 8 films (the TV Show Air Dates plugin's Now playing in cinemas holds up to 20). Choose 8 (Emby's own number, the default), 12, 16 or 20. Web browser; the Emby apps keep their own spotlight.

Fixed

  • Airing Today page: clicking the Airing Today heading on the home screen opens its list, and an episode there showed a blank card. It now shows the show's fanart, as the home screen card does. The same goes for the TV Show Air Dates plugin's other lists. Web browser.
