kizunarae 4 Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I have two feature requests related to the new home screen: I noticed on the Emby andriod app on the phone, the Emby Android app on the TV, and the "Emby for Android TV" app on the TV all display Spotlight differently; vertical large banners, horizontal large banners, and full screen banners respectively. It would be great if we had the option to select which option to use on any device and would add more variety to the home screen. It would be great if we could set "Single Collection" sort order to "random" like is available for dynamic media. 1

The standard app has already been updated to support the full-screen spotlight, but I don't think it offers a choice.

I know it allows card vs spotlight but I also like the look of the spotlight on the phone android. it would be nice to have that size option on the TV too. Example attached of the vertical spotlight banner on the phone.

For me, just because it is nice to have variety. The cards view is a bit small, and the horizontal spotlight only allows you to see one item at a time, while the vertical spotlight on a horizontal display would allow it to have more impact than cards view while still allowing you to see more than one item at a time. I don't see much use of the horizontal spotlight on the phone, but on the TV all three options could work well. If the options exist, it's just an added bonus to allow the user to decide what they want it to look like.

I am not sure if this is how it's supposed to work, but when I chose "Card" for the spotlight section, it just shows the video "folder.jpg" as it appears in every other category, and the same size. I would have though the card option would have looked like the mobile version of the "Spotlight" option, but in a card size on the horizontal display. I like the idea of the mobile spotlight size, which would look like a quarter card on the horizontal display. Maybe that could be an option at some point, and rename the existing "card" option to "poster" or "folder" so people know what will display there. Then depending on which option is selected, the system could use a custom image type... ie... poster/folder would use the "folder.jpg", spotlight a "spotlight.jpg" and card a "card.jpg". Just a thought. LOL. 1
