NeverExists 22 Posted Monday at 11:57 PM Posted Monday at 11:57 PM ok, it has been 3 days now and nobody seems to care weather my problem gets fixed or not. I just installed plex and it works fine, but when I went to access the server, a little notification popped up asking me for permission for it to have intetnet access. I think that is why Emby is not working. So this is my last try before switching to Plex, cause frankly it is such a pain to get things fixed all the time.
daldana 126 Posted Tuesday at 01:12 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:12 AM Try going to canyouseeme.org on the server and enter the port you have Emby on. This will tell you if that port is open to the internet.

daldana 126 Posted Tuesday at 01:48 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:48 AM Ok, that means Emby should be getting out. On the same webpage, it should show you the external ip address of your server, is that the same address listed on the Emby dashboard for Remote access?

NeverExists 22 Posted Tuesday at 01:54 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 01:54 AM All the apps I use are on the same network as my router and laptop that has my server
seanbuff 1368 Posted Tuesday at 02:06 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:06 AM @NeverExistsyou are already getting all the support available to you right now. Please refrain from opening multiple topics for your issue, it makes it difficult to maintain context. Thanks.
NeverExists 22 Posted Tuesday at 02:16 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 02:16 AM Well there is no point of having my emby subscription for something that does not work. Saves me money. This is ridiculous that nobody is smart enough to figure out what is wrong.
daldana 126 Posted Tuesday at 02:19 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:19 AM Can you ping the server from your laptop?

daldana 126 Posted Tuesday at 02:24 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:24 AM Do you have another pc to try this?
arrbee99 1839 Posted Tuesday at 02:30 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:30 AM I think it help for this setting to be 'Private network', not public, in Windows settings and any anti virus thing you might have - course if its already private...
Solution NeverExists 22 Posted Tuesday at 03:57 AM Author Solution Posted Tuesday at 03:57 AM Well, turns out that unplugging my modem from the wall then plugging it back in worked for some weird reason

Oh the people are smart enough, but if you refuse to give the information required for people to help you, there is nothing the community can do. It's like going to the doctor and saying "I'm in pain" and the doctor asks you where, what happened, and for how long, and you decide to start talking about how crappy a doctor they are, how bad their waiting room is, their staff, etc, instead of answering the questions 4
NeverExists 22 Posted yesterday at 01:52 AM Author Posted yesterday at 01:52 AM Anytime I restart my server on my laptop or turn off my laptop, when its back on, I can't connect to the server with any of my apps. To get it to work, I have to unplug my router and plug it back in again.

Sounds like the ip address of your server machine on the LAN might be changing?

At least its the same one all the time on the emby dashboard Edited yesterday at 04:01 AM by NeverExists

Yeah, it's the same. They both have the same IP Address. Edited yesterday at 04:42 AM by NeverExists

If you don't understand basic TCP/IP Networking you have no business trying to setup & maintain a home media server. I suggest you just pay for Netflix, Disney+, etc Edited 22 hours ago by dcook 1
visproduction 353 Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago (edited) Possibly related: https://fastipinfo.com/blog/fix-ip-address-conflicts-local-network Quote Rejoining a network after being away (when your previous IP was assigned to another device) Useful Windows Command prompts: ipconfig /all ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew ipconfig /flushdns Emby setup should cover this. More info on making sure the IP address for your notebook stays the same and does not flip to another IP address, each time your notebook is turned on. This could fit your symptoms and could be the problem. The Notebook should get it's reserved IP address, so it's the same each time. https://routerhax.com/reserved-ip-address-guide/ Edited 21 hours ago by visproduction 1
