I refer to my servers and clients by name, not by IP address of either type. Windows does what it chooses, which is mostly, but not always, IPv6, as it happens. As for why some people running Emby have trouble with IPv6, I have no idea (nor any way to distinguish whether it's an Emby-specific matter or not). I have never had an issue to investigate, and I imagine it will need fairly intensive hands-on debugging which will only happen when the kind of person who's inclined to do it comes up against the problem. KylerMarkle 1 Posted Sunday at 06:14 AM Author Posted Sunday at 06:14 AM I'm back again, now that I've moved from Windows to Linux Mint; and unable to connect again My Emby server is working on my desktop PC, and when I confirm the PIN code it says it works on the web page, but my Emby on the Roku doesn't connect. Typing in the IP address just says it can't connect to the server. I'm new to Linux so it's been an adjustment, I had to fight with re-formatting my media external drive for Linux and make sure the user permissions were right (which I assume they are since the media can play in the web browser now). Thoughts?

What happens if you type the exact same IP address into a browser? Are you sure the port is correct? Are you sure the protocol is correct (http/s)?
KylerMarkle 1 Posted Sunday at 09:55 PM Author Posted Sunday at 09:55 PM Same IP address connects yo my media library. Port is the 8096, correct? I don't get any option to enter a protocol when I put the address into emby on my Roku I did get some kind of warning when I first connected to the IP address on my web browser about it being unsecured, but it no longer appears

There is an example right above the field. Connecting from Client Apps

Connecting from Client Apps I don't know; I'm not trying to host a server. Just trying to connect over the shared network LAN. I don't have an https address, I put in the IP address.

Luke 43378 Posted Monday at 04:06 AM Posted Monday at 04:06 AM Are you able to connect to that address from any other device, such as a web browser on your smart phone ?

Sounds like this is blocking incoming connections. You can try from a terminal: sudo ufw status If it returns that its status = Active, then you can add a rule: sudo ufw allow 8096/tcp Alternatively, you should be able to do the same from the GUI Click the Mint logo and type 'firewall' into the search box and check it's status. Either disable it entirely, or add a rule for port 8096
KylerMarkle 1 Posted Monday at 07:26 AM Author Posted Monday at 07:26 AM It does; and it was enabled, and I added that rule from the terminal, but I still can't access that IP address from my phone on my home wifi.

KylerMarkle 1 Posted Monday at 11:27 PM Author Posted Monday at 11:27 PM I'm not sure what changed; I disabled the firewall and was able to connect on my phone once I restarted my PC, then I disabled it and restarted, and I'm still able to connect on both my phone and the Roku device. Remains to be seen if updating my library goes through correctly, since I've seen that as a common Linux issue. Guess I'll take it, thank you!
