Hola, tengo el mismo problema en mis dos TV LG, ambas están actualizadas? Hay alguna actualización nueva en curso? Como se puede volver atrás en una actualización de LG?

Reverted to earlier version 4.9.10 and working ok. Did try latest beta but not fixed yet.

@IamweazelWill you verify it's 4.9.10 that you're saying works?

I'm not seeing that version on Releases · MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases to roll back to.

EDIT: Disregard:  I wasn't going back far enough, found 4.9.1.0-beta from back in May. I'm assuming that's what you meant?

I'll try it when I get a chance.

Let me know if anyone finds a newer version with it working.

I went and tried a few December builds and still had the subtitles in upper left corner issue (maybe because of the LG app update afterall combined with server update?)

Verified rollback to 4.9.1.0-beta fixed my subtitle issue, let me know if there's a newer version that's an option.

Still not working with 4.10.0.2. Any more work being done on this?

Think they're still working on this..related to an odd character in subtitle issue mentioned on other posts as well I believe.

I rolled back to 4.9.1.0 until it's fixed.

4.9.1.0 is such an old beta though, why do you need to go back that far? Did you try rolling back to 4.9.2.8 at least?

Ya it's odd. I think the problem just started in early January and I rolled back to a December build but still had the problem.  There may be a newer version than 4.9.1.0 that it works on but I saw that build suggested and went with it after trying a few december betas without it working right.  I bet they'll have it fixed in a week or two and then I'll upgrade.

Might be some combination of the .49 LG update change as well as server changes that made me have to go further back to the 4.9.1.0 but just a wild guess.

If anyone finds a newer version than 4.9.1.0 that works let me know.

I have done the same. I updated to beta 4.10.0.1 but the error was not corrected, and thanks to you it occurred to me to go down very low and install 4.9.1.0 and it works! Thank you! Hopefully it will be fixed in the next stable version of 4.10.

Please be aware that it is not advisable to switch back and forth between Stable and Beta builds. You could experience undesirable results.

In this instance, we experience desirable results. :)

Does anyone know if the Beta version: v4.10.0.3 (2026/02/12) fixes this?

There's no mention of it in the change log.

I'm also experiencing this. Kind of ruined a movie night with someone I only see every 3 months :( Didn't want to start messing around with downgrading the server while they were there. I hope it's fixed soon.

I confirm that version 4.10.0.3 BETA does NOT fix the subtitle problem, although version 4.10.0.2 BETA specifies that it fixes problems with subtitles, it seems that they are not these. It's already desperate, we've been like this for 6 weeks. @Lucas

Still with the problem... Really annoying issue and no solution for a month...

I'm still having the same issue after the LG .50 update. It no longer has the strange characters in the subs but they're still positioned in the top left corner and it's putting most of it off screen

At least an official statement regarding the bug and its fix is needed. They said it would be fixed a month ago, and nothing has been done since. LG users are constantly experiencing problems; sometimes we feel abandoned.☹️

I updated to version 4.10.0.4 Beta, and although it specifies that it fixes it, it DOES NOT fix it.

It doesn't say that at all. The "subtitle encoding regression" was in an earlier beta, and has nothing to do with the subtitle positioning.  I don't think they're even working on this.

Suspect origin of issue is subtitle positioning metadata, embedded in the media file.  Some TV's Apps might handle "Alignment 2" as the short term name for bottom center and other TV apps, perhaps your LG, does not have code to recognize "Alignment 2" and considers it, instead, to be center aligned, from top left. This is just a guess.  This type of strange issue can come from an online software update from LG.

The media file subtitle positions can be fixed with ffmpeg.  If this is true, then Emby would, at the most, be trying to fix an issue, caused by the media file.  Maybe a previous Emby version had some process working to fix this. The better solution is to fix the media file embedded subtitle positions.  Have examples been found where the exact same media file works on a different Emby version?

Fixing embedded subtitle positions by resetting the metadata inside the media file.

A fix I prefer is to remove the subtitles from the media file and convert them to separate .srt files.

  1. Remove - MkCleaver (older verison 0.8.01 because the new version has false virus issues)
  2. Convert - https://subtitletools.com/convert-sup-to-srt-online
