Bullshit1 0 Posted December 30, 2025 Posted December 30, 2025 after using for over a few years I have reached the point where updates won't instal on my mac mini so I gave up trying as no help available. Now when I turned on my Samsung tv to which I watch all my movies on it said unable to connect to server. There was no problem then this just pops up and I can no longer watch on TV after days of trying everything everyone has said. I would much prefer to see how I gat a refund for my year as there is no support when there is a problem as can be seen. And I am well aware of Luke who just asks the same questions over and over with never giving anyone an answer to problems they are having. So help me get my money back instead with no questions about log files.
Luke 42077 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Hi, can you try doing a new server connection and entering your server address manually? Does that help? Could your server machine ip address have changed recently?
BEAR11111111110 2 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Been doing exactly that for a year does not pass validation from mac says your program does not pass even if I say instal anyway, stuck using a very old version. Want my money back did not pay for something that does not work or for no support worth while such as you offer, been here before with no help. REFUND!!!!!!!!!!!!
sa2000 673 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 (edited) Email billingsupport@emby.media for any refund requests What forum account username(s) have been using for raising issues and requesting help? On MacOS you should be able to drag and drop EmbyServer.app to the /Applications and then open and select "Open Anyway" when prompted. There is also a setting in Settings / Privacy & Security > Allow Applications from .. Edited January 3 by sa2000
BEAR11111111110 2 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I know full well how to open apps exactly the way you say and it works on almost any app I have had to over rule and ask Mac to open anyway, but emby app still does not open and after extraction and placed in applications and tried or tried well still in downloads folder. I have been told a new version came out over a year and a half ago by my emby app as usual as I have had many upgrades over the time. Never been a problem until this started back then where mac does not allow it under any circumstances on my mini. Says can't confirm you are not full of malware can only delete download at that point it ignores the fact that I have done an over ride and told to install anyway. Dragging to applications is not a problem getting it to open is the problem for over a year now.

BEAR11111111110 2 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 the app runs fine on my mini an old version, I watch on samsung tv 2025, but app on mac always tells me when new version is available so I close old app go and download new one from emby for my mac, it will extract from zip but when I open nothing, like I said before, just over a year ago was the last time that I have been able to do what I had done many times when informed of new version available. Only something changed where mac no longer says it is safe and refuses an override.
Neminem 1515 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Ohh wow an issue for over a year. And you first reach out now and just created a account.
BEAR11111111110 2 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 The old version has worked fine and still does and after reaching out a year ago I got same responses as now, nothing but people asking the same questions over and over but never did one say this fixes it so I gave up only started again now but will give up again as it is clear there is no support what so ever only endless repeated questions, created new account to try and get it to load with this being done but no. So if you have nothing to offer pease keep your useless opinions to yourself.
sa2000 673 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I did ask you what other forum user accounts you had beside the two in this topic so i can see what you had been given in terms of responses before I just checked the Emby for Mac OS app - I had the Emby Mac 2.2.33 version installed from the Mac App Store on a MacBook Pro. I downloaded 2.2.39 from the link on our emby downloads page for the Emby MacOS App https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/raw/master/macos/Emby.app.zip - It installed ok Is your mac intel or arm ? and on opening
BEAR11111111110 2 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 The same responses given now nothing, I have said already that I have done exactly what you show with pics but when I press open anyway it does not open in any. way I get another box open instead telling me about how it still will not open due too lack of trust of the app and only option it gives is to delete. There is not any message that says what your pop up says like emby differs from prev and so on or emby is app downloaded from internet, the only message I ever get is I press open anyway and get this next and have for a year now so I give up and continue using the old one from a while ago now

How exactly did you install the server?
BEAR11111111110 2 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Seqouia 15.6.1 on mini right now , server was installed on mac mini originally about 3 or 4 years ago now if I remember and downloaded from emby and installed on my mini back then went threw many newer versions over time no problem until this happened. Every time was the same I had to tell it to instal anyway and it did. Now it does not. Am ready to give up and continue with older version that at least still works and plays my videos but would be nice one day to update like I did once upon a time and get what ever benefits it is I am paying for with my yearly subscription. But it would appear not.
Luke 42077 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Did you drag EmbyServer into your Applications folder? That is a very important step that can't be skipped, otherwise the server will not be able to run. And how exactly did you try to open it with Finder?
BEAR11111111110 2 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 yes i did exactly that as that is what always had to be done in past to make it work. And I am back to where I gave up the last time because the same questions are asked over and over all the while I clearly said how I did it already, All these questions are the same ones asked the last time by you Luke and we did what is happening here again, no answers just repeat the same questions that were asked and answered already, lets just say good bye as I don't believe for one minute there is any clue to my answer again.
Luke 42077 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Are you able to try the beta server? We recently started notarizing the beta builds. I'm wondering if that will make a difference with what you are seeing. Thanks.
BEAR11111111110 2 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 never seen a beta version before don't know where to get
sa2000 673 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 (edited) Beta version can be downloaded from this page https://emby.media/mac-server.html With regards to the dialogue box giving option to move to trash, when i had this pop up in the past, there was an option that appeared in the MacOS Settings / Privacy and Security / to click on to allow it to open - so when you see that dialogue box, open up Mac OS settings and Privacy and Security and go to the section relating to apps Edited January 4 by sa2000
BEAR11111111110 2 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Well low and behold all loaded as used to be the case. Just all like I remember, except I always downloaded from same page for app just never clued into the beta thing, never delt with beta version of anything in past. But ya so far so good. Not understanding what went wrong but am glad to see for the first time in a long to me when I turn on Emby says up to date!!!!! You be safe now Bear 1 1
