hspantera 8 Posted December 27, 2025 Posted December 27, 2025 (edited) I have all movies in mkv and with embed subtitles. Before this update all works good. After the update on direct play it shows strange characters. It seems that the new update is showing the wrong subtitles code. My subtitles are utf-8 or ansi. But they all show like the picture below. Before the update all subtitles worked great. Edited December 27, 2025 by hspantera Word correction
hspantera 8 Posted December 27, 2025 Author Posted December 27, 2025 here are the logs on lg version (v1.0.49). emby logs.txt
Luke 42077 Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 @hspanteraHi there, please attach the complete emby server log file rather than a log snippet. Thanks !
hspantera 8 Posted December 28, 2025 Author Posted December 28, 2025 I put the log when I started movie play. Isn’t enough?
Richard Branches 330 Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 (edited) Those "strange" characters are actually the tilde (´) and perhaps the eñe (ñ) in spanish and portuguese, I also see them on my TV, they are not rendered correctly. The first word is "Também" with a tilde on the letter e. Edited December 28, 2025 by Richard Branches

Don’t show those strange characters. Edited December 28, 2025 by hspantera
hspantera 8 Posted December 28, 2025 Author Posted December 28, 2025 Yes. Words in Portuguese that have this “~ or ç and more” they show wrong. It’s strange because on same tv LG the same movie with same subtitles but external srt, everything shows fine.
hanzirj 0 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Same here, LG TV, software version 1.0.49. Subtitles with commonly used letters in Portuguese (ç) and Spanish accents are buggy in display when the subtitle is embedded. Two pictures below, one subtitle is embedded, the other is an .SRT extract, from the same file in .SRT format.
nanuk 36 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Since LG App Version 1.0.49 german subtitles also show strange characters when so called "Umlaute" (ä, ü, ö) or "ß" should be displayed In former versions this never have been a problem!
Luke 42077 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Hi, can you provide a sample video for testing? Thanks.
Luke 42077 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Hi, this has been identified as an issue in the server and we’ll be getting an update out soon to resolve it. Thanks.

zaraguel 0 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 (edited) I'm in the same situation. En tv LG, since the app update, the Spanish subtitles are displaying strange characters. Edited February 1 by zaraguel
