I hope we have been able to help you sufficiently, and we will always be here when you need us. You have helped me a lot, all of you. Lessaj who read the logs I submitted, seemed not to know where the non-working address was ciming from. What she gave me pretty much worked. I have a friend coming to Fl. in a few weeks, He writes code for a living. Maybe he can help with the static I.P thing. Yes, I can follow instructions, When I got to my computer network settings, their were a lot of blanks ti fill in. A lot more then what was explained to me. I tried to read up on it on google, and only got more confused. I never found out why I was supposed to use an address that did not seem to work. (The 101) one. Yes, I could follow Lukes directions, but their just didnt seem to be enough. Exactly what do I put where? From what I read, you put the static in one place, but keep dns somewhere else, or I could lose internet and other connections. 1

Lessaj 467 Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 Here are the important values when setting a static IPV4 address. More than likely these are the values that you would use based on what I've gleamed from this thread. You can look at the current config within Settings but for ease it may be best to see it with "ipconfig /all" in a command prompt. You're basically just going to transpose the details provided by the DHCP server and apply it to the adapter properties. This information is all in the log you provided. IP Address - 192.168.68.133 Subnet mask - 255.255.255.0 Gateway - 192.168.68.1 DNS - 192.168.68.1 (the upstream gateway is more than likely also your DNS server, or a DNS forwarder to your ISP DNS servers, confirm with the current DHCP provided details) Below is from your log, I stripped out the IPV6 addresses because you don't need to do anything with that information, so it's simplified. The only thing it doesn't include in the log is the DNS server address, which again is more than likely your gateway. Quote 2025-12-22 20:40:55.840 Info NetworkManager: GatewayAddresses: 192.168.68.1 2025-12-22 20:40:55.840 Info NetworkManager: UnicastAddresses: 192.168.68.133 2025-12-22 20:40:55.872 Info NetworkManager: Detected local ip addresses: [{"IPAddress":"192.168.68.133","HasGateWayAddress":true,"PrefixLength":24,"IPv4Mask":"255.255.255.0"}
Trekdriver3 12 Posted December 29, 2025 Author Posted December 29, 2025 Thank you so much, something even I, whom is appairently complete un-educated (lol). Can understand. Every answer you have for me is in plain English, and very understandable. I will give it a go tomorrow. Will advise. 2
Lessaj 467 Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 Set the alternate DNS -> DNS over HTTPS to off and that should let you save it. I've never edited IPs from here before, only the old school way from Network Connections -> Properties -> IPv4 Properties.
Trekdriver3 12 Posted December 29, 2025 Author Posted December 29, 2025 So, my connections on my p.c. said that wify was off. Of course I tried to connect and it did, but kept saying not connected. It did say ethernet was connected, so for the hell of it, I tried there. Looks like wify is only for other devices like phones,tv.s etc. The first screenshot is trying with wify. The next one is connecting with "ethernet" That one connected just fine. I think it's right new, I think. nes, t.v.s and o
Lessaj 467 Posted December 30, 2025 Posted December 30, 2025 Ideally you should be using ethernet for your server, wifi can also work in a pinch but for the best experience definitely ethernet is the way to go. I would probably just disable the wifi adapter to eliminate any confusion. You can certainly go through the same process of setting a static IP on the wifi adapter if you wanted, especially if it's a desktop that doesn't go outside the home, but it's probably best to leave it on auto (but also disable it if you're not using wifi) and it MUST have a different IP than the ethernet adapter. It could be a neighbour IP, like 192.168.68.132 or 134, as long as no other device on your network has that IP. Looking at your last screenshot it looks like when using DHCP it also pushes external DNS servers as part of the config, you can add these as alternatives if you want but it's not completely required since the gateway is the last one in the list which will likely forward requests to them. You can also add your own if you want, like 8.8.8.8 (google) or 1.1.1.1 (cloudflare).
Trekdriver3 12 Posted December 30, 2025 Author Posted December 30, 2025 Funny thing, now localhost will also open emby for me. Anyhow, looks like I good to go? 1
