What do you mean? I tried all those links to try to connect to "emby connect". None worked.

Hi, there is no such thing as "connect to emby connect". Emby Connect is just a feature to help you connect to your own server.

But since you said you tried all those links, then for the second bullet point, what SSL certificate did you set up?

For the fourth bullet point, what installed Emby app did you try to use?

I don't know that I did set up an ssl, I don't really know what that ia. When I first installed emby, I just did what it asked me to do. Next I went to emby connect, to start linking to t.v.s. Emby Connect is listed as https://emby.media That is what I cannot get into, I have an account, I should be able to see it. All I get is that list of (what you call) bullet points, none of which work.I don't know what else I can do to explain things, like I said, I'm not that computer savvy, I don't know a lot of the terms.

So, the above is as far as I can get. These were from my phone. But I use Emby for windows 64 bit and on  my phone its for Android. And no, none of those links work, believe me, I've tried them all, numerous times. The last one emby media takes me back to the sign in page.

Ok sorry. If I open Emby from my new book mark which is what works, it shows version 4.9.1.90 and shows "up to date"

Emby connect I cannot get into to change my physical house address from Safety Harbor Fl. To Clearwater Fl. (could that be the localhost problem?)

On my windows add or remove programs it shows 4.8

Did you try installing the Emby App like the fourth bullet point suggests? Or the Emby windows app?

I just installed the windows app. Still won't let me use the "Connect" option. Emby.media takes me to the sign in page. Both have the .101 address, which will not connect.

Tell you what, if you want, we can wait till after the new update, and just hope I don't have to buy a new t.v. that I have to connect to. It's up to you. ATM Emby is working on all my t.v.s and on my computer.

You're obviously incredibly technically challenged, so I'll send you to a website with pictures.

https://windowsreport.com/how-to-set-static-ip-windows-11/

we all have to start somewhere. Good luck.

Great, I went there and it wanted me to put in the address from the first solution  The one ending in 101.8096. Now that address does not work for me, so why would I put that in?

The only way I can get on Emby on my p.c. is to use the address given to me by "Lassaj" that ends in 1338096. That works fine on my p.c. which was my original problem.

What is not working in no way, shape, or form is emby connect on my p.c. or Android phone. All that does is take me to the 101 address, and I can't add the 133 address. So what would a static ip do for me with an address that so far, I can't use?

And yes, for things like this, I am somewhat tech. challenged, but I can follow directions. I'm not too sure about putting in the static ip, don't want to screw things up. So if you can explain a little further I'd appreciate it greatly. Thanks for the help.

I don't use Emby Connect so I don't know how valid this will be, but after you sign in to Emby Connect try to delete the server that you see there, there should be a 3 dot menu in the bottom right or tap+hold for context menu, then add server with the address previously provided Host 192.168.68.133 Port 8096. Can maybe also try to remove your email from your User profile and add it back and see if that makes it update, but I would try deleting the one that appears and readding with the correct details first.

Sounds like a plan. Thank you again. I will let you know in a bit.😃

I was on my android phone when I did the above, it works great. Now on my computer, No. Doesn't really matter anymore, as long as I can get on it from my phone, if I need to get another t.v.

On your computer there is the Emby Windows app.

Hi Luke. ATM whatever is working, works. I tried the windows app, and it dis open under localhost. It did not work on connect. So whatever it was, I got rid of it. I don't want to mess with what works anymore. From what your saying is I'd have to delete everything I have and start all over again, or just delete what I already have. Maybe at a later date, but right now, I'm satisified. Thank You

If you can't understand those extremely simple directions, I am sorry, there is absolutely no hope for you. Your system is currently setup with DHCP, which means your router will drop it after a certain period of time and renew the ip address, which means your computer will get a new address and your current system of accessing the server will no longer work as it will be pointing to where the computer is not.

Please take the time to learn this and understand it. It is imperative.

Ok, look, I understand the "how to" What I don't understand is :if I put the static i.p. in my p.c.s settings Doesn't that change everything, meaning I won't be able to access things with different addresses? Or does that change just Emby. I may be old, but I'm not stupid. If I knew all there is to know, I wouldn't be on a help desk.

Trek,

Your server is the receiver of data from the Internet and the router. The router uses a virutal group of IP addresses that don't really exist in the outside world. You need to  have one of these virutal IP address for your server and have it set to static. When you do that, it will not be changed again by the router.

If you don't lock in the IP address, the router sometimes sees the address as available. when your server is turned off and may give this virtual IP to some other user on a mobile with Wifi, for example, depending on traffic and who else is using the network.  Then you turn the server back on and the router gives you some other (3rd) virutal IP address from the pool of addresses. You will still get any incoming data and you can still send anything you like.  The server will still see the Internet and seem normal.  The router gave your server the new IP address and  knows to send any Internet traffic back and forth from your server.  But Emby server will not know the router changed your virtual IP address and nothing will connect in Emby.  That's why you need to assign a virtual IP address for the server and not let the router give that assigned static virtual IP address to anyone else.

Think of your network like a row of houses in a gated community. Every time you come to the gate you're asked "What's your number?" and you say "I don't know" so they say "Okay go to house 20". The next day you show up and they ask again "What your number?" and you say "I don't know" so they say "Okay go to house 15" because they don't remember that you were previously in house 20 last time, that's called a DHCP lease - you were given an address, and only you will get that address for a period of time, usually 24 hours. But if you show up to the gate and you say "I am house 20" that is authoritative and you will always be house 20. That's the same thing as setting a static IP on your devices, it's not asking your DHCP server (in your router) for an address, it's telling it what its address is. It should not hand out 20 to anyone else, and if someone else shows up saying "I am house 20" that is an IP conflict. If you've asked the people at the gate to order food for you they know the order is coming from house 20, so when the delivery comes to the gate and they ask who it's for, they say house 20, and it gets delivered to you.

When using DHCP, it's the people at the gate who are in charge of where you go, and ensuring that everything that is for you gets to you once you've been told where to go, and where you've been told to go won't necessarily be the same every time, like after your router reboots it may forget what it assigned you, and your client could tell it "well last time you told me 20, can I have 20?" and your router could decide to give you 20, or it could decide to give you 15. When using a static address, you're saying where you will go, and they are only responsible for ensuring that everything that is for you gets to you.

In this case, the IP address being shown for the server is in a completely different subnet, and never appeared in the server logs, so I don't see why it's coming up. I could see getting a different address on the same subnet, but not an entirely different one, that's like going to the gated community down the main street. I don't know what your network looks like but I doubt it's complex enough to have more than one subnet unless you have more than 1 router, and even that still shouldn't change that what is presented on your dashboard is the same thing that is advertised to Emby client apps and the same details used by Emby Connect.

Anyway, there's no reason to use Emby Connect for your local devices, all you need is the server IP.

I'm happy with what you gave me that works. I am not comfortable messing with that 101 address that doesnzt work. Izm just gonna let sleeping dogs lie.

And you'll be back here when your router decides to change the IP address of your computer..

Again, please take the time to learn and understand the basics of computer networking. Your wilful ignorance will do nothing but bite you in the behind.

Setting up a static IP in your router will definitely make life easier, yes.
