Qowy 0 Posted December 19, 2025 Posted December 19, 2025 (edited) Has there been any Update on this? I am seeing the same problem with interestingly downloaded files only. In all cases German is marked as Default. The settings are prefer German and sometimes i tried Ignore and use default, but no change The thing is it only affects the downloaded transcoded version. Via Home Shows Series -> German is selected Via Downloads TV -> English is selected (and German still marked as default) Via Download TV -> Version -> select "online version" german is again correctly selected. (Note that I have this error on Android, not TV, however I am currently testing if the same occurs with the windows app) -> Hm no with the windows Version it correctly selects German for the downloaded version and the streamed Version for this user. Any chance to get some logging of the Language selection process? Maybe with adb? Edited December 19, 2025 by Qowy
visproduction 315 Posted December 19, 2025 Posted December 19, 2025 (edited) I've noticed that there are embedded default tags that can be set inside a .mkv video container. This can be adjusted with MKVtools. The tagged audio default info is part of the media metadata inside the file. I've also noticed that I can flip the order of the audio with a 3rd party editor like AVIdemux. I think maybe Emby is able to pick an audio language but might run into problems, when the tags inside the media file have different audio default settings. Has anyone tested this out? Changing the default settings inside the media container is fast and easy, once you know how to do it. ffmpeg probably can also do multiple files at once. I've posted asample ffmpeg script on a similar problem with subtitles. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/52854-subtitles-always-playing/#comment-1491341 Hope that helps. Luke 42077 Posted December 20, 2025 Posted December 20, 2025 @Qowy Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
Qowy 0 Posted December 26, 2025 Author Posted December 26, 2025 Hm of course now after a redownload (with a reencode it looks better. I will monitor and file such a report if the issue reappears.
