Emby won't load (Forbidden error)

I've had issues with signing in through the apps on google and apple its asking for the server name which 

I put in correctly but it didnt work i then tried the IP address and this didnt work either I get "we're unable to connect to 

the selected server right now, please ensure its running and try again" i know its working because it works fine through

the web browser and samsung tv app, i just cant get it up on the apps on my phones S25 Ultra and iPhone 15 pro it

doesnt work on wifi or on mobile data so im at a loss here ? The only things it is working on now is the web browser

and samsung tv. Any ideas what I can do ?

I added in the ip address in the top of the network section in emby and now im getting  i cant get back in to change it back, i uninstalled it from the synology nas but it still wont let me back in

I also did this

1. Navigate to /volume1/@appstore then delete the application you want to remove.

2. Navigate to /var/packages see if there is a folder named the same as your app and remove it

3. Navigate to /usr/local see if there is a folder named the same as your app and remove it

 

I reinstalled emby again on the synology and it still wont let me back in i still get the forbidden message

I had a connection issue and i tried a suggestion and added in the 192.168.0.14 ip address into the top of the network settings in emby server on the web interface

it came back as forbidden when i refreshed the page, i couldnt get back in to change it so i uninstalled emby and reinstalled it but its still saying forbidden when i try 

to run emby....any help please ? i removed the folders from user and var but still get the same thing.....

From there open up the /config/system.xml file. I would make sure EnableRemoteAccess is set to true.

Additionally, try removing the entire LocalNetworkAddresses and LocalNetworkSubnets nodes, if they are present. Make sure to backup this file first before attempting to startup the server.

If you start the server and get redirected to the server startup wizard, it's due to the file being malformed xml, so shutdown, restore from your backup and try again.

 I got the system.xml and made the changes but as soon as i tried to save it i get scp: /volume1/@appdata/EmbyServer/config/system.xml: Permission denied
so i must need to change permissions on that file, how do i do that ?

Yeah ssh into it through winscp got the file and edited it, but as soon as i tried to save it it says i dont have permission

I got the file edited, but when i try to save it i get permission denied, i managed to change the file permissions but it still gives me the error. i tried to copy the file and edit it in another drive and copy it back and still got the same /volume1/@appdata/EmbyServer/config/system.xml: Permission denied error.

Running as an admin yes ? still got the same error

Admin is not the same as su.  Admin account without elevated su won't have permissions to save that file.

ok so how do i do that, running win 11, using powershell to ssh into the DS920+

Just posted link to guide how to use su when using Winscp.  If using command line SSH you need to do the following after signing is as Admin

sudo -i

followed it but now i get Error skipping startup message. Your shell is probably incompatible with the application (BASH is recommended). when logging in through winscp

Did you run the task you created in DSM?  Probably need to be signed into DSM as Admin to run it.

Yeah, no joy....the user account im signed into the DSM is has admin privelliges also 

I changed 

Under “Environment” select “SCP/Shell“

Change the “Shell” option to /bin/sh

and now i can login, i tried to edit the file and it still wont let me save it so i tried to copy it across and got the same permissions error

That needs to be exactly like it shows in the guide.  Without doing the sudo -i command you won't be able to save.

Can you try rerunning the script in DSM logged in as Admin?  The message you posted before indicates the script most likely didn't run.

 I logged back in to DSM through the proper admin account and put in a sheduled task and the script, i made sure to run it this time and

went then to winscp and ran that

as an admin as well opened the file, edited it and tried to save it, same result....wouldnt let me save it 

went back again and changed the shell in winscp to sudo -i when i tried to login again it gave this error

Is Smeghain a member of the group 'administrators' in DSM?  Or, does it just have admin privileges? 

To check if it's a member.

• Control Panel
• User & Group
• Click Group tab
• Double click 'administrators'
• Click the 'Members' tab
• Smeghain should have a check in the box
