HanSolo 21 Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 Hi, TLDR: I had an issue with the upgrade from 4.9.1.70 --> 4.9.1.80 which caused me to downgrade to 4.8.11.0 and reinitialize the database. Linked to the original thread. After I re-added my music library, I see no media and almost no UI elements. I'm using Microsoft Edge on the stable channel. I've not tried any other browsers or clients yet. Here is a screen capture. Not sure how to proceed, any help would be greatly appreciated! HS
Luke 42077 Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 Hi, what exactly did you do to reinitialize?
HanSolo 21 Posted October 13, 2025 Author Posted October 13, 2025 (edited) From this link (https://emby.media/support/articles/Corrupt-Database.html) I followed the steps at the bottom: Quote Steps to Reset Library Database & Start with a Fresh new setup Shutdown Emby Change to the database location found above containing your database files Rename library.db to library.corrupt Restart Emby Recreate your media libraries I did this procedure while Emby was uninstalled, then I installed 4.8.11.0 since the 4.9.x doesn't seem to work on my NAS anymore, quite frankly I don't know why it ever did. I was just working on a new post when I saw your reply ping in. I was trying to figure out what was wrong, looking through the settings and I made a change to one of my users and saved, now the media shows up for all users. At this point I've only added back the music library. I have video and audio books that are separate libraries. At this point I don't see any of my old play lists, I'm considering how I can restore them. I can see them still in the path /volume1/home/emby/data/playlists and the files look like they are up to date. As always, any input is very much apricated. HS Edited October 13, 2025 by HanSolo
HanSolo 21 Posted October 13, 2025 Author Posted October 13, 2025 I have now, I will do so now, thank you for the suggestion 1
HanSolo 21 Posted October 13, 2025 Author Posted October 13, 2025 I initiated a full scan and a metadata refresh, they should be finished by now, but the play lists have still not shown up. I'm not going to do anything further tonight, I'll see what the status is in the morning. 1
HanSolo 21 Posted October 14, 2025 Author Posted October 14, 2025 (edited) Checked the server this morning and the playlists have not shown up again. Do you have any suggestions for importing them? Also, I noticed this morning that the address bar looks strange I'm pretty sure that it used to show something like http://myserver:8096/ and it really wouldn't change while I browsed and played music. Now, as an example, it looks like this http://myserver:8096/web/index.html#!/item?id=23962&serverId=de4c8681b2074740b2b6ced3d8169294&parentId=2 (this is me browsing a specific genre of music). I only mention this because I think it might be an indication of something being wrong. Please let me know what you think about this Again, I'm using the latest version of Edge on the stable channel. I also have Chrome and Firefox both installed, both are latest on the stable channel so if you want me to try either one of them I can. Regards, HS Edited October 14, 2025 by HanSolo

Solution HanSolo 21 Posted October 14, 2025 Author Solution Posted October 14, 2025 (edited) RE Playlists: The strangest thing just happened. I added one of the smaller play lists manually, planning to add them one at a time as I have a chance starting with the smallest ones. Once I added it, I went off to do something else for a while, when I returned most of my previous playlists had populated. The act of adding a playlist must have forced a rescan of playlists maybe? In any event I'm happy enough they're back. It looks like the playlists that had .m3u files associated with them are the ones that repopulated. It appears that the newer ones did not repopulate, that's okay with me since in my case the newer ones that don't have .m3u files are the ones that are much easier to recreate. This is similar to what happened when I made a change to one of my users and things started populating (described in my second post to this thread) Edited October 14, 2025 by HanSolo 1
HanSolo 21 Posted October 14, 2025 Author Posted October 14, 2025 (edited) I had looked at the data in the playlist files in a text editor from the terminal that were repopulated before the server "found" them and repopulated them into the UI, all the data was all wiped out at some point since then because I went to the Emby UI and looked they were empty (after that I went and into the terminal and opened them in a text editor and in fact all the files are now empty). Thankfully I have a backup of the ones that will be hardest to recreate. HS Edited October 14, 2025 by HanSolo 1
