Please help me troubleshoot. For whatever reason, emby server won't connect anymore. I disabled the firewall rule, and that has zero effect. What else do I need to look?

Hi there, what exactly happens when you try to connect?

I get the message that Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at localhost:8096. (this despite that the rule for embyserver is disabled on the firewall)

Are you able to use the Emby web interface on the server machine?

No, trying to launch the Emby web interface (browse library) gets the same message

Are you sure Emby Server is running?

The icon for the server shows in the system tray, but trying to launch  the web client generates an error message

What is the location of the server log file?

Hi.  The rule in the firewall you are looking at is for public networks only.  So, if your network is properly set to "Private" this rule has no effect anyway.

Please ensure your network is set to "Private" and that you have appropriate rules in the firewall and let us know if that helps.

Looks like you have a corrupt database.

SQLitePCL.pretty.SQLiteException: Corrupt: database disk image is malformed
SQLitePCL.pretty.SQLiteException: Exception of type 'SQLitePCL.pretty.SQLiteException' was thrown.

Try to follow this KB to resolve it.

Thanks for your help. HOPEFULLY,  I can manage to repair the library database file and be back in the game. For future just in case , might be wise to periodically make a copy of it for safekeeping if this should ever happen again 🤞🤞.
