Kittie42089 2 Posted August 6, 2025 Posted August 6, 2025 I use Emby on my firesticks at home with no problems. But when I try to use the android app on my phone, it has NEVER been able to connect to my Emby Server remotely. If I'm connected on my home network, it works. But as soon as I turn off the wifi, it is unable to connect to my server. I have gone through every How-To guide and done port forwarding, static IP, all the things. Nothing has worked. I'm at a loss. I even briefly turned off all of my firewalls to see if one of them was blocking the connection. Still nothing. I know something must still not be set correctly because even if I try to type in the IP in the address bar on the browser on my phone it says the site can't be reached. I'm just stuck at this point. Other than home use for all of my media, the remote access was the main reason I chose to go to Emby. Please help.
Luke 42077 Posted August 7, 2025 Posted August 7, 2025 Hi there, can you show us how you setup port forwarding? Thanks.
Luke 42077 Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 @Kittie42089 were you able to get remote connected?
Kittie42089 2 Posted August 15, 2025 Author Posted August 15, 2025 @Lukeno, I honestly don't know what else to try.
Luke 42077 Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 @Kittie42089have you checked to see if your ISP is using a CGNat?
seanbuff 1313 Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 https://emby.media/support/articles/Connectivity.html#cgnat-double-nat Check your router for your WAN IP address, does it fall within this range? 100.64.0.0 - 100.127.255.255
Solution Kittie42089 2 Posted August 17, 2025 Author Solution Posted August 17, 2025 @seanbuff it turns out my ISP is indeed using CGNat. I went ahead and used Tailscale to get around it. It seems to be working fine on my Emby app on my phone now with the wifi turned off. I'll be sure to test it when further away from home. But for now, thanks for pointing out that my ISP was likely the problem! Thank you @LukeYou were helpful in this too! 1 1
