jackthedoc 12 Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 I am having difficulty allowing remote logon to friends who are not on my home Wi-Fi network. I have given them the URL that is quoted as the WAN address for the particular session of the Emby server and the password that has been generated (and stored) by Dashlane which calls it localhost:8096 Emby Server. Is there a way to give permanent logon permission to two or three people? And if so, what details do I need from them to set them up as a remote user? What information must I give them? Emby seems to have a lot of information under a lot of subheadings, but I am quite unable to interpret the instructions. Being a tyro in all matters of networking, I would appreciate a detailed explanation of what I must do Thanks in anticipation John Norris
pwhodges 2012 Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Have you worked through the External Connectivity section of this article? https://emby.media/support/articles/Connectivity.html At the end there are number of debugging steps to take in case of problems. Paul
jackthedoc 12 Posted August 4, 2025 Author Posted August 4, 2025 I found it slightly intimidating when I first browsed through it, but I think, having read it again on your link, that I should work through it bit by bit. I will post my success or failure when I have finished. Thanks again 1
