hawkguru 4 Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 Hi, I have generated my SSL certificate using my provider, and now I'd like to convert it using the instructions here: https://emby.media/support/articles/Secure-Your-Server.html I am just a bit confused as to what to put in the chain folders here on this website as instructions say: https://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-converter.html I have 4 files generated from provider: MYDOMAIN-chain.pem MYDOMAIN-chain-only.pem MYDOMAIN-crt.PEM MYDOMAIN-key.PEM I am aware that the "crt" should go into the "Certificate file to convert" tab that the "key" should go in the "Private Key File" But as for the chain certificate and chain certificate file 2, which one should I put the chain in, and which one should I place the chain-only one in before converting? Under type of current certiciate I have selected "Standard PEM" and for conversion I have s elected PFX/PCKS#12, and i will choose a password too.
Lessaj 467 Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 (edited) Technically they're optional and you don't need them, you should be able to create the PFX with just the CRT and the KEY. I'd recommend that first. But you can probably use MYDOMAIN-chain.pem for Chain Certificate File and leave File 2 blank if you have issues with just the CRT and KEY. Edited June 11, 2025 by Lessaj 1
hawkguru 4 Posted June 11, 2025 Author Posted June 11, 2025 Ok I will try in a bit and post the results. Thank you! 1
hawkguru 4 Posted June 12, 2025 Author Posted June 12, 2025 Ok I did it and I think it was successfull - i decided to go the full mile thoguh (felt at least following the instructions to detail can't hurt) so i figured out htat chain.pem = certificate bundle whereas the chain-only.pem lacks a certificate (so it's not part of the bundle) i uploaded/converted those three (key, cert, and the chain.pem, and then just added them to Emby, all is good! 1
