SkyRaider 1 Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 So I'm not sure if this has been posted or even where. I'm hoping this is the right spot. If not, I'm sure some "brave: keyboard warrior will let me know. So I use Firefox, I have my shortcut for the Emby app saved and have been using that one-click shortcut to log in to Emby for years. One day it just didn't work anymore. On my mobile or Roku it works just fine, no issues. But not on desktop. I've tried "Sign in with Emby Connect" but that's a useless loop. Enter email and PW then it loops right back to the beginning. I have not tried the option of "add server" because I don't know what that's going to do. Will I lose all edits I've made to movies descriptions, etc? Will it just reconnect? I'm just not understanding why I'd have to reconnect my server all of a sudden. I went through the process of downloading the media app and all this a long time ago. I have not recently added/deleted any software. I've not ran any malware cleaner, etc that could have deleted anything. What's my option from here to get back in without losing anything? Why did this happen and how do I (try) to make sure this doesn't happen again?

Luke 42255 Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 @SkyRaider Hi, did you read through the four options that were presented to you in the dialog? Which of those would you like to proceed with?
SkyRaider 1 Posted April 10, 2025 Author Posted April 10, 2025 Of course I did. I also wrote that app media wasn't working. It gave two options with the IP addy and the port. Neither were working. Set up for HTTPS has already been done.

pwhodges 2036 Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 It's just past Windows update Tuesday - is it possible that this has changed your networking mode from "Private" (correct) to "Public" (wrong)? Paul

Paul Hi! I'm just now getting to back to this problem. Had some other pressing matters. So under my Network & internet > Ethernet > Network Profile Type Public Network (Recommended) {this is the one that's checked by default} Private network {is not checked} When it comes to these settings, I'm lost. It truly is a different language. I can code basic frontend, but all backend code and interfacing is not my forte.
Luke 42255 Posted April 18, 2025 Posted April 18, 2025 Hi @SkyRaiderI would suggest checking out our Connection Troubleshooter: Connecting from Client Apps Please try the steps listed there and let us know which ones succeed and which ones do not. Thanks !

Paul It seems to have fixed it. I appreciate it. I used to love Windows. but the way they force crap down your throat is annoying. Makes me feel like I'm Sasha Grey. 1
