"Ready to transfer" indefinitely

Emby download (original format) fails due to to my LinageOS android 11 tablet being a bit cr@p (it hard-closes/stops everything after half an hour or so, even if I have it set to not restrict usage of the Emby app).

The thing is that after that, I can't download it anymore.

I've tried removing the download and adding it again, removing closing the app and adding it again, adding the download task twice (one through the download button, one through "download to"), removing it restarting Emby and adding it again... All kinds of combinations, yet all result in "Ready to transfer" but not actually starting.

I don't know if it's the app, it's the server, it's both... Very frustrating.

Log attached. In PDF format because the app doesn't let me download the file directly from the app.

Latest official versions for Syno 7.2 server and android app, though this happened to previous versions too.

Feel free to move this to wherever needed.

HI, is the app running on the device?

That's the whole point, yep.

That's how I retraived the logs (app, logs, no log download option, the app opened the log on Firefox, "printed" log as PDF).

Hello @Luke

Still not working.

Tried adding it again a moment ago, still nothing.

Nothing shows on embyserver.txt so it's like the app isn't even trying.
Other media downloads correctly, except that specific movie (The Parent Trap): it seems that since it failed at some point, it's not trying again.

Maybe we should move this to the Emby Android app part since it looks as if this is the app not working correctly, not the Synology server part.

Hi, what makes you think the parent trap failed?

The initial time it failed because the Emby app closed suddenly while it was downloading (probably my tablet's fault).

And I know it's failing on the next tries because I see that it's not downloading anything (it stays as "Ready to transfer" indefinitely), and also because it's not showing in the Downloads section of the app.

Can you try clearing all of the downloads from the downloads section on the server, then go into the app on the device again and try to download again? Thanks.

Went in using the web interface (just in case), removed the movie download, went to the tablet, went to Manage Downloads and it wasn't there (as expected), added the movie again (original, no transcoding), still stuck on Ready to Transfer.

I had done this same process before, but doing every step from the tablet.

There must be some residual files on the device and some data inconsistencies

Yes - there is an issue where the data could end up being inconsistent and result in failing to download again.

This is being looked into.

You could try the latest Emby for Android app and delete downloads when running the recent releases current is 3.4.70 - see release notes here - the server log shows you were running Emby for Android 3.4.36

If problem persists, i believe the only option is to uninstall and re-install the app

For diagnostics - there are Emby for Android logs - see app settings and also for the server, adding debug logging gives more information

The test I did today was with .67, which I see has the latest "download fixes", so I guess I'll have to uninstall and reinstall the app (at some point, not in a hurry).

Just as a heads up, Play Store isn't showing me any updates after .67

I just joined for "beta tester", to see if I get newer versions sooner, but nothing's coming up yet 🤷‍♂️

I am having the same issue with the same movie, very odd. Tried many things, deleting, clearing cache, downloading with different qualities and nothing works

Deleting app cache ought to get round issues where they may be a parial file that stops it being re-fetched

I suggest getting diagnostic logs for a fresh atttempt to download after deleting download/clearing cache

Is this with Emby for Android app ? If it is, please enable debug logging on the app as well as the server in server settings and after a fresh launch of emby server, start the download and get the logs from both the android app and the server.
