Gherky 0 Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 Hi Everyone, Just wondering if anyone can give me some guidance into what I may be doing wrong? I have been a Plex user for quite a few years now and have decided to try out Emby. I have been able to set Emby up apart from one thing, the Remote Access which just seems to work out of the box on Plex. The 'Allow Remote Access to The Emby Server' is ticked and I have tried both the WAN and LAN remote access whilst on mobile network but I cannot get it to work. I am using a Nvidia Shield Pro as my server. I have read a lot of guides but nothing seems to work. Any help / advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

The way Plex operates is such that all your connections go via their central servers, this makes it easy for them to provide remote connectivity without much user intervention. Emby is designed to be self-hosted (your server and connections are yours only), therefore it is up to the individual to configure their Emby Server for remote access. Can you confirm you have followed the Remote Setup guide? 1
Justin757 8 Posted March 10, 2025 Posted March 10, 2025 Its simple, using tailscale app on your shield and mobile. Copy the ip address of tailscale app for your shield its will be available in tailscale app and paste that ip address when emby asks to add server manually. 1
