rayyr 0 Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 I downloaded the file from the official emby website. After installation, I double clicked but nothing happened. I tried both version 4.8.10 and beta 4.9.0.40 and both of them can't work. I tried to see whether it is actually working so I go to http://localhost:8096/ but still shows This site can’t be reached localhost refused to connect. Can anybody tell me what's the problem? My chip is M4 Pro. Mac OS version 15.3.1 (24D70)
Luke 42077 Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 Hi there, how exactly did you install the server? Are you sure the server is started and running?
rayyr 0 Posted March 3, 2025 Author Posted March 3, 2025 I downloaded this zip file into Downloads and unzip it and got Emby Server app. And I move it to Applications. The thing is I don't know whether it's started and running or not, because after double click there is no response.
Luke 42077 Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 Right, you can't double click it. You need to start it by following the process here: https://emby.media/mac-server.html Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
rayyr 0 Posted March 3, 2025 Author Posted March 3, 2025 Well, I just uninstalled and install again with the instruction. After unzip, I drag the app into Applications. The instruction said 'If you're unable to start due to a message about unidentified developer, start Emby Server by clicking the settings icon, then Open'. I think there is no settings icon on the new Mac OS, so I guess it means the icon shown below. After I click open the message in my computer is like this. I have to go to Settings - Privacy and Security and click Open Anyway. I tried the above action again and still nothing happens like before. Only a zoom-in and zoom-out transition on the icon, you know.
Luke 42077 Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 So the arm64 version doesn't have a tray icon (yet), so this could all be normal. After you click open anyway, you should be able to use the Emby web app in the browser. If not, then please see if any emby server log file was generated: Emby Server Data Folder
rayyr 0 Posted March 3, 2025 Author Posted March 3, 2025 Oh, There is even no emby server data folder on my computer or at least no such file path on my computer.
rayyr 0 Posted March 3, 2025 Author Posted March 3, 2025 I have a question that if I set the server on a windows computer, can I use a Mac connecting to that server and directly use emby app?

Same : "Allow applications from - App Store & Known Developers" This in itself does not help and one would need then to select Open Anyway from the link that gets displayed below this security setting. And there was no option to Move it to the Applications folder. Only way was to drag and drop. Edited March 6, 2025 by sa2000 1
rayyr 0 Posted March 11, 2025 Author Posted March 11, 2025 I tried to use emby server on my Windows computer, and I can use it now. so I didn't try on Mac any more.
rayyr 0 Posted March 11, 2025 Author Posted March 11, 2025 I will also have a try when at my convenience On 3/6/2025 at 11:32 AM, Luke said: @rayyrplease let us know if this helps. Thanks.
