faandfo69 2 Posted February 28, 2025 Author Posted February 28, 2025 Done played for a couple of seconds and sent the logs at 10:39am eastern time
ebr 16169 Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 This is on a Mi Android box? Your example was an item with DTS-HD MA, not TrueHD. The box doesn't support that so we're trying to decode it in the app with ffmpeg but that is throwing errors too - perhaps due to bad decoder implementations on that box as well. The system only reports support for DD and DD+. Exactly how is it hooked up and to what?
faandfo69 2 Posted February 28, 2025 Author Posted February 28, 2025 Im not using any external android box but rather built in android (mi tv x Pro) Ive already provided the logs previously for true HD audio as well previously That too does not directplay on emby but does on jellyfin as stated earlier I think whats happening is that jellyfin direct plays what can be played by the hardware and then uses software decoding But for emby the audio output-auto option always transcodes and i like many other am using emby on an old machine that can't handle it plus dolby vision is lost as well(in emby) Maybe the solution is to give an option to always directplay but if it cant then instead of transcoding it should use software decoding The problem with software decoding on as default is that it messes with audio levels

The standard Android app has a newer version of ffmpeg in it. Did you say you tried that?

faandfo69 2 Posted February 28, 2025 Author Posted February 28, 2025 The standard android app cannot play anything that the emby android tv app is transcoding It just gives a black scenn and does not play(image posted on previous page) And yes no external speakers. Did you guys get any info as to why emby might be failing at software decoding automatically and forces transcoding?

Looks like problems with the device's hardware or software decoders.
faandfo69 2 Posted March 1, 2025 Author Posted March 1, 2025 Nothing happens it does not play at all via the standard android app
ebr 16169 Posted March 2, 2025 Posted March 2, 2025 No attempt to seek or pause/play or anything will make it start going?
faandfo69 2 Posted March 2, 2025 Author Posted March 2, 2025 Nope, the playback doesn't start. Stuck like this for past 5 minutes. I tried seeking and playing again and then ff to 2, 3 minute mark but nothing plays
Solution ebr 16169 Posted March 3, 2025 Solution Posted March 3, 2025 Okay, thanks. I think this is a hardware-specific issue but the standard app should be detecting that and falling back to transcoding.
faandfo69 2 Posted March 3, 2025 Author Posted March 3, 2025 Ohh thanks for the quick replies and responses. I hope this can be solved in the future.
