Running Windows Premiere Server.

Served configuration looks good:

Port forwarding set in router:

On Android client Sign in with Emby Connect takes email and password but goes back to Select Server screen.

When try to manually connect using above information get Unable to Reach Server.

What's the secret combination to get this to work?

Plex has a similar setup and just works, flawlessly, every time.

Does it work in a web browser from mobile internet.

It does not - it behaves the same way.  I enter credentials and screen pops back.  Trying to select by the displayed server returns same error message.

Hi.  This will need to work before Emby Connect can.

So, you need to troubleshoot what is not correct in the remote setup that is not allowing your server to be reached.

Understand but what should I be looking for?  As stated earlier, Plex has very similar requirements:  Internal/External IP address, Port forwarding, etc. and it works.

Emby server says remote access is working but yet it does not.

Where do I start?

Do I have to go through the entire https setup with a certificate, etc. to make this work?

@rochambeauxto use the Emby android app, no, you don't. I would suggest checking out our Connection Troubleshooter:

Connectivity

Please try the steps listed there and let us know which ones succeed and which ones do not. Thanks !

Couple of things.  In the Connectivity link you point to canyouseeme.org, which is a huge clickbait trap and does not allow you to enter the IP to be tested.

This is the only way I could get it to work.

I cannot get to Emby using the external IP address.  Everything is setup correctly: Blacked out Ip and ports all match.

However, if I use the the Dynamic Host Name on my router instead of the external IP, it resolves and I can enter credentials and connect.

For whatever reason, Emby connect will not accept the same "bare" IP address that the hosted name below points to.

Thanks.  I currently use ProtonVPN - guessing there's a way to do the same thing?

NordVPN Mesh is the ticket.  Since I don't need their other services I was gobsmacked that I can use Mesh for free with minimal nagware :)

Thank you so much for the solution.

Emby Support:  when paid customers are experiencing similar issues you should just direct them to Nord Mesh.  It's easy and simple to integrate and free.  Your Connect functionality should be the same but alas it is not.  Making customers go through generic "troubleshooting" steps that resolve nothing, combined with relying on dodgy 3rd party things like "canyouseeme.org" presents Emby in a very poor light, especially when competitors like Plex offer the same functionality that works straight up as advertised without all the gymnastics.

Users here are often referred to Tailscale, which has similar functionality.

Connect is not equivalent - it is merely a way to look up your server address, but does nothing towards setting up remote access or getting round problems with it.  Plex gets around these issues by routing your stream through their servers which (a) involves a lot of investment, beyond Emby's means, and (b) they can scrape information about what you're doing, which Emby does not do.

The only thing that worked was using NordVPN mesh.

Everything else did not make a difference.
