Grant Access to Specific Files within Libraries

Hello Emby Team,

I’d like to suggest a feature that could bring even greater customization to user profiles. Currently, when creating a new profile, access can only be granted to entire libraries. It would be extremely useful to have the ability to grant access to specific files within the same library. For instance, in my case, I have a movie library that includes various genres (thriller, horror, comedy, animation, etc.), and I’d like to create a profile for my child that only allows access to selected movies, such as Toy Story or Wall-E.

This level of customization would allow users to set visible content in each profile in a more secure and specific way without the need to create additional libraries for each type of user. I’m sure many parents, like myself, would greatly appreciate such a flexible control feature for the content their children can access.

Quisiera sugerir una funcionalidad que permitiría una personalización aún mayor en los perfiles de usuario. Actualmente, al crear un perfil nuevo, solo se puede seleccionar el acceso a bibliotecas completas. Sería de gran utilidad poder asignar acceso a archivos específicos dentro de una misma biblioteca. Por ejemplo, en mi caso, tengo una biblioteca de películas que incluye varios géneros (thriller, terror, comedia, animación, etc.), y quisiera crear un perfil para mi hijo al que solo le permita acceder a ciertas películas seleccionadas, como Toy Story o Wall-E.

Este tipo de personalización permitiría a los usuarios ajustar el contenido visible en cada perfil de manera más segura y específica, sin tener que crear bibliotecas adicionales para cada tipo de usuario. Estoy seguro de que muchos padres, como yo, apreciarían una función de control tan flexible para los contenidos a los que pueden acceder sus hijos.

That can already be achieved with either folder-based or tag-based access control.

Al final lo he hecho como ustedes han dicho, mediante los controles parentales, pero creo que resulta muy incomodo. En la biblioteca debería dejar la opción de seleccionar que archivos y carpetas específicos poder elegir también. Muchas gracias por la ayuda

In the end, he did it like we did without it, through parental controls, but it did result in some inconvenience. In the library you will already have the option to select specific archives and folders that can also be selected. Much gracias por la ayuda
