HI, we are looking into this. Thanks.

Thanks for the update 🙂

I’m temporarily cancelling my subscription until it’s fixed because I can’t use Emby in its current state. I use subtitles 90% of the time. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

How do subtitles relate to this?

Because of the constant frame drops/stuttering when subtitles are enabled. It’s unwatchable.therefore I don’t use emby.

Hi, can you give it another try?

The issue still exists. Here’s a little insight: the stutter/frame drops start the moment someone speaks and the subtitles begin. jellyfin doesn't have this issue.

Are you asking about subtitles or "not auto-playing next episode" ?

Not sure if it's been addressed. "auto-playing next episode" seams to be working so far.

Thanks, but in its current state, Emby isn’t really cutting it for. daily use.

I really do hope it gets sorted sooner rather than later.

For now, I’ll cancel my subscription until the two bugs are fixed, as it’s been over two months since I reported them. What’s surprising is that Jellyfin, which is completely free, doesn’t have these issues. Emby has a lot of potential but falls short of basic functions. I want to emphasise that this is constructive criticism, not meant to offend.I'm really rooting for Emby to be a bigger success than it already is. 🙂

Looking forward to what I would like to see in future updates and features.

Bugs:

* Auto play next episode(Only Affects Apple TV & Android)

*  Framerate stuttering/frame drop when subtitles are enabled(Only Affects Apple TV & Android)

Features lacking on Apple TV compared to Android and web version:

* A-Z search

* HDR

* Thumb view option

Thanks

Yes, the Emby app for Apple TV lacks some features, but Jellyfin lacks an app for Apple TV.

You’re right. Perhaps I should compare Emby to Plex, as they both offer a paid subscription. In this case, Plex wins hands down for functionality with Apple TV. 🙂

Update: Framerate stutters/drop  when subtitles are enabled. A temporary fix is to enable “Playback Correction” (only affects Apple TV and Android).

In those three months of this thread I don't see a single description of a specific occurrence with supporting logs and details of your relevant settings (there are several for subtitles, for instance) so that the devs can find the cause.  You don't even say what type of subtitles are involved (srt, ass, vobsub, pgs) or whether they are embedded or in separate files.

This kind of information is necessary because you can't assume that everybody else has the same issues - I don't for one (and I use subtitles 100%, of nearly all kinds).

I posted the Log file here

Log file for "Not auto-playing next episode" on page one.

Luke replied to both of them, saying they were being looked into, back in May.

Sorry - I missed that.  The way you embedded the download in the text made it less prominent than I expected.

It's usually best to supply the main server log at the same time (though of course you won't have the corresponding one now!).

I also have the issue with TV episodes not playing the next episode. Edge browser. The option is enabled, I just get a couple buttons on the bottom of the screen with an option to play the next episode if I click on it, but it never automatically plays it.

These are episodes I have already watched, so maybe it just doesn't want to autoplay a watched episode. I haven't verified that yet.

It might be related to transcoding. So far, after turning that off (actually changing it so it just does 1080p 60Mbs, effectively disabling it) it seems to be working.
