Luke 42528 Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Hi, please try Emby for Android 3.5.28 and let us know if that helps. Thanks.

You will see it pause a few times before playing the next episode. UPDATE 2: I tested a few more files, worked seamlessly I hope this helps. test.mp4 Edited January 22 by Blueskies278
vdatanet 1620 Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Quote in my post: Beta .40 exhibits the same behavior. Please fix this annoying bug. A hint, if I disable HLS subtitles in the diagnostics plugin, this bug does not happen. This is a server issue not a client issue

Blueskies278 55 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 (edited) @Luke After testing extensively over the weekend, I can confirm that the “auto next episode” feature works 100% with this temporary workaround. It’s been almost a year since I couldn’t use Emby as my daily driver because of this bug. Here’s a quick note on the diagnostics plugin settings I used: Disabled by default (I have to re-enable after a restart or software update). - Enable "Disable HLS Subtitles" Enabled by default: - Disable Hardware Subtitle Overlay - Disable Subtitle Filtering I really hope you can roll out a permanent fix in the next update. Thanks Edited January 25 by Blueskies278
Blueskies278 55 Posted February 18 Posted February 18 @LukeAny closer to finding a permanent fix for "auto-playing next episode" ? Thanks 1
vdatanet 1620 Posted February 18 Posted February 18 @LukeJust a friendly reminder that this EOF issue with MKVs has been around for quite a while. 1 1

TVTech 14 Posted March 29 Posted March 29 (edited) Wow nearly two years since this problem was first reported and still no permanent fix. I can't say I'm surprised at all. I guess aesthetics are more of a priority than basic functionality here. Edited March 29 by TVTech

Also did you notice how the regular Emby fanboys on here chime in as soon as people get a little chippy about the crap service we're getting from this company? You've been really patient dealing with the constant attacks from that "pwhodges" person and honestly I would have told him to eff off by now. These people want to silence anyone who even remotely appears dissapointed with this mediocre service. Like we're supposed to pay for a service and not complain when the Emby staff are obviously stalling and giving us the runaround for years without any timeframe on a fix and ultimately no fix in the end. For me, it’s constructive criticism and not meant to offend; I would love to see Emby be the best it can be. I bought a lifetime subscription a few months ago, but I find it odd that basic features are missing or non-functional compared to Jellyfin. Auto-next episode is not working: I have to install diagnostic options and enable "Disable HLS Subtitles" to get it to function. Missing TMDB thumbnail options: There is no TMDB option to optimize my thumbnails with text for TV shows. I currently have to rely on Jellyfin to do the "donkey work" of downloading thumbnails with text. Default Functionality: Jellyfin includes the TMDB option for TV show thumbnails with text by default, whereas it seems to be missing here. Auto-next episode : Works perfectly Edited March 29 by Blueskies278

These are basic functions that the Android app already has. Edited March 30 by Blueskies278

With Diagnostic Options installed, I got Claude AI to write a script to permanently disable HLS subtitles. Even after an Emby reboot, it still holds the settings. Also, there's an Emby bug where upcoming shows appear a day early with US TV Shows, because "upcoming" doesn't take into consideration whether you live in a European time zone — that too is fixed using Claude AI. Right now Emby is almost perfect. I just wish Emby would add TMDB for thumbnail view with text, and not have to use Jellyfin to do the donkey work.
Blueskies278 55 Posted May 2 Posted May 2 (edited) @LukeHopefully, this should help track down the bug. Thanks emby_bug_report.html emby_android_1777611608448.txt Edited May 2 by Blueskies278 1

If I had the time to wrestle with it, I would go back through old versions to find one that didn't have the issue. This makes Emby pretty much useless for my needs. I'm sure I can't be alone in this, and it makes me wonder how much of the userbase has just walked away instead of complained about it. From my point of view, seems like this would be the number one priority ot fix over some of the changes that they've added that makes Emby worse imho. 1

I looked in Playback and Transcoding and I'm not seeing them. I assume I'm just overlooking them but not sure where.

GregMo 26 Posted May 15 Posted May 15 I've finally just given up on Emby playing the files. It does a half decent job with DLNA so I will just use VLC to access the playlist and use Emby as nothing more than a media manager. It doesn't appear the team cares anything about fixing this since it has been an issue for years with no attempt to address it while they've added or changed other crap for the the worse. 1
